I felt this was a bit far from the intercity bus stop with my very big suitcase. But if you don't have the suitcase, it will be fine👍

The best thing was I had my own space with the light and the content plug! It made me so relaxed!! The kitchen and the bathroom were also clean.

Bedroom could do with a mirror and a shelf - somewhere to put a glass of water for instance that isn’t on the floor. Bathroom could do with a peg for a towel.

Location good. Nice and quiet. Chilled vibes.

People shouting in the bathrooms at night. Not the hostels fault, just people being selfish.

Lovely hostel very close to town. Good clean kitchen with lots of space. It does get busy but the cleanliness was maintained. The shared bathrooms back onto the rooms so you don't have to go outside to access.

You get what you pay for, it's by no means a luxury stay so I can't give it a bad review based on that! Does the job

Good location near a Pak and Save, easy walk into town and not far out to Huka falls. Very relaxed hostel and good kitchen/shower facilities. The rooms were fine, pods a little hard to get into if you're top bunk and quite hot! But nice and private personal area at least. Enjoyed the hammocks outside.

    Maybe some more fridge space.

Good location between the lake and the parks where local tracks are. Really friendly staff ~ Sara and Finn were both great and well stocked kitchen with spices etc. Pod style beds were great with light, socket and blind. Outdoor space was lovely with hammocks. You can book the Tongariro shuttle with them direct!

We had a private room, but the people outside were a bit noisy and stayed up late. Just bring earplugs and you'll be fine, but that goes for most places.

Comfortable and great location, very walkable to everything and free parking. Comfy hammocks to relax in.

I loved the little pod! It’s like being enveloped in a cosy nest with all your belongings at hand & providing a feeling of privacy. Plenty of toilets & showers, kitchen & lounge area clean. Also pleasant outdoor space to enjoy the sun.

More space in fridges would have made things easier and laundry was a bit tired but all functional.

Great courtyard set-up which felt safe with a relaxed vibe.Everything seemed to work and staff were very helpful. Grateful for a discount with my Scottish Youth Hostel card.

I like the fact that Finlay Jack's was nearer to Taupo Apitheatre where I came up for the concert which was very handy indeed .I also liked the facilities and the staff were really friendly and on to it with whatever I needed. Meeting other people and travellers were great too.

Only downside is having to walk outside to get to the shared bathrooms if staying in a dorm, not the funnest dash in the dark/rain, but a minor downside.

Everything! The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, the rooms were fantastic! The concept of pods was amazing, it gives you an extra level of privacy other hostels can't offer! There was lots of social spaces (including hammocks, very cool!), the kitchen is very well equipped, and there is even a 'free food' section, as well as free spices, tea, coffee, sugar, etc. the WiFi worked really well also! I personally really appreciated the women only section of the bathroom! The location is great, 15 minute walk to the lake and town centre, 2 minute walk to the nearest supermarket, also walkable to the Huka falls which I recommend! Plenty of car parking spaces. And to top it all off, there is a hostel dog - Biggie! 🐕

Staff could more proactively give information about the town, activities, etc.

Great privacy due to the capsules you sleep in, very comfy and quiet, en Suite private bathroom is another plus! Nice indoor and outdoor common area with kitchen and library, great place to meet new people! Great location, short walk to huka falls as well as the lake.
