How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

A ramp for wheeling bag to ground floor room would be good instead of negotiating stairs.
Location handy to Waiheke ferry terminal. Unit 12 had lovely views of bay. Bucks Restaurant was great and 5 minute walk.

Room was a bit narrow, making getting from one side to the other challenging at times, BUT bed was huge! Restaurants in the area are closed on Mondays.
Great location on a bay, great water views from some rooms. In a suburb of Auckland, so avoids the worst traffic. Sufficient parking, one dedicated spot per room.

Excellent location, straight across from the beach. Facilities were clean and tidy. The bed "was HUGE" Will definitely stay again when we pass back through.

The office was only open 9am to 5pm when we were away at a conference. I like a person to welcome and farewell me not a microphone and drop box. Also, we could hear the people on the next floor coming and going.
Being so close to the beach. Saw a staff member ceaning in the morning and found her helpful. Deck and grass in front of the moel were pleasant.

We didn't want to be in the middle of the city so we chose this place, but if it is peak hour, the traffic is really bad & it takes over an hour to get into the city, so that needs to be considered when booking. We were in a studio apartment & it was very small - motel size, & they have squeezed so much into the space, including a king-size bed, that you can hardly move around. The space between the bed end & the tv is probably only about 40 cm. There is nowhere to put your gear - no cupboards, drawers, or shelves. It is advertised as having a garden view, but it is only a carpark. I think it is overpriced for what you get.
It was clean & had a comfortable bed.

it's decent enough but the whole property could do with upgrades, everything is very dated. The sheets and towels are bare basic and not especially comfortable.
The manager was attentive, it's a great location, and nice quiet setting right opposite the beach.

I thought everything was pretty good
Great accommodation with multiple rooms perfect for a big family. Location was great right on the water and easy walking distance to cafe/restaurant and close to ferry terminal. Staff very helpful. Clean and comfortable

The fact that you pay to stay there and then have to do the dishes.
Location was excellent to get to ferry crossing to Waiheke next day. View was spectacular. We had top unit. Worth paying the extra. Restaurant close by which was also great.

I booked two units 1 for me and 1 for a friend, they mistakenly took their key home and I got the $200 charged loaded against my credit card even though they paid for their unit. It took four days to resolve but not cool that I was dragged into someone else’s situation

The stairs don't have decent railings for small children. It was very stressful every time he walked up and down the stairs.
The accomodation was clean and tidy. The pool was good for the kids. The beachfront was a lovely walk.
