How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Bed was a little high but comfortable once climbed in and settled.

The toilet seat was loose and moved when I sat down. The tea towel left fluff on the dishes when I tried to dry them.
The location was perfect for us and easy to find. Only saw the staff on arrival which was fine. They told us where to find them if we needed anything. The shower had great water pressure and was a good size for me being a bigger person. There was a portable fan on a stand available that we used in the bedroom at night because it was quite humid. Appreciated it, thank you. Four Square, Cafe, Takeaways, Bar and meals all very close at hand if wanted.

It is a little dated and not particularly glamorous but this is reflected in the extremely low price.
Very well priced and great location. Also very spacious.

The only thing was the ripped net curtain, which may have been news to the staff, as when I was shown the room, the staff was surprised.
The accommodation is exactly what is shown on Booking.com. It was clean, tidy and had a kitchenette for you to have your meals. Rooms were spacious and ensuite was suitable.

Was an all good accommodation for what I needed (somewhere to stay close to Parihaka for the night). Right next to a bar and behind a liquor store so all good for the singles or couples.

Little bit unusual with proximity to local services and limited rear visibility.
Nice, comfortable, roomy, well suited to being able to work (at a table), good lighting, very handy to local amenities.

TV minimal channel choices. Some curtains need repair/replacement. No tea sachets (only coffee and chocolate). Beds comfortable, but too high - getting in

Personally I found the apartment cold and the Goldair heater was noisy and inefficient. No electric blanket on the bed. The shower drain couldn't cope and water seeped out and on to the bathroom floor.
Quiet, central location. Comfortable bed and great shower pressure... the two most important factors for an overnight stay.

The bed was very soft so for us getting a little older with bad backs it was not the best sleep but beds are a very specific thing suited to your requirements so some people would love the soft bed. And super minor but a little annoying the tv remote wasn't working perhaps just a new battery was needed and the dish remote was playing up, you would go to adjust the volume and the channel would change. After a few attempts, it would do what you wanted it to so not sure what the problem was.
It was almost attached to the venue of the concert we were attending so this was great. I was a little concerned when we saw it was 1 of 2 units attached to the side of the local bottle store but it was very quiet and from in the room you would now you were in such a public place. There was a great restaurant, cafe and 4 square only doors down so we had everything we needed.

Newly upgraded accommodation. Very helpful staff when we had a power outage and we needed to get ready for a wedding (found alternative place). Also provided transportation to our wedding location.

We had no problems at all
Unfortunately it was a very quick overnight trip so didn't get to experience too much. But you did have a power cut and we were getting ready for a wedding so you let us use your family bach. Thank you so much for this, you have no idea how appreciated it was. Would def love to come and stay again.

Maybe better parking and possibly a heat pump (didn't want to leave the little fan heater on while we were out)
