We had the studio room very tiny. no 19. just tea and coffee supplied.. it could've had a toaster or microwave on a shelf.. We were not told there was a breakfast room. This has not put us off coming again. We would.

Friendly staff Food was incredible dinner menu fantastic... location delightful

Rooms are very clean, basic. It is our understanding the owners are new and are in the process of upgrading the entire facilities. We were quite happy with our room, it wasn't "updated" but absolutely spotless and in a beautiful setting with amenities for tea and coffee and plenty of space to relax.

The owners were extremely responsive and helpful. We did not have reservations for dinner on a busy night and they immediately "found a table" for us. The outside grounds are impressive, one can wander or sit and relax, the food, generous portions and excellent. Loved the location! The place is close to but not in the town, a tranquil setting near the lavender farm. Would definitely book again!

There are certainly two sides to this property, one has lovely mountain views over a field or lake, the other looks out onto the car park (this ‘option’ is not shown in the property images, of course). It would be good to clarify which view you are getting if this is important to you.

Lovely location and good value for money

A scenic, relaxing place to stay

This is a minor inconvenience, and is manageable. There is no facility for breakfast. An electric kettle is in the room to make coffee/tea, but there is no microwave. So, no way to heat something up like a breakfast pastry. There is a small fridge though, and I managed with cold breakfast cereal in a cup with milk. Otherwise, one could drive a few kilometers into town and get breakfast in one of the cafes.

The location is beautiful. We got a garden side room and had a wonderful view of the mountains. The garden is also kept in beautiful shape.

some services close early. we were out on tours all day, very difficult to get food if we returned late.

The bar area was great. authentic, and rustic atmosphere. service was above average, they made local recommendations of spirits that were excellent. It was located far enough from our room that we didn't hear the music late.

Water Pressure in the shower was divine! Pub attached to the hotel was very convenient and the food was delicious! 11/10 recommend the sticky date pudding! The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The grounds are gorgeous and being situated a little out of Kaikoura makes it feel like an escape from the hustle and bustle of city life with the added bonus of being a 5 minute drive from the supermarket, beach and township.

No Guinness available! I don't think there are a lot of other facilities at the hotel but for a short stay, it is good.

I stayed one night. The hotel is set in large gardens but I didn't spend much time outside because it was raining. On a dry day, they would be relaxing to explore. The building looks like something from Ireland and the bar had an Irish feel. I had a stew that was tasty and well-prepared. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. I would stay there again.

The accommodation is very tired, dated, old with some loving care required in the bathroom to make repairs and make the furniture comfortable, fit for modern expectations. Between the bed cover and bedding was grubby.

Gorgeous setting and great atmosphere, great to be able to eat and drink in the same place we were staying. Loved the outdoor setting and clear your care team do their best.

Excellent reception and all staff were friendly and helpful. The whole complex is unique and historical. We thoroughly enjoyed the references to the first and early Irish Setters to Kaikoura County.
