Small room and expensive for what you got. Parking way over the top in price. Breakfast if you wanted extra sides you were charged.o0

Undoubtedly the best hotel in Dunedin
    • Leisure trip
    • Family with young children
    • Superior King Room
    • Stayed 2 nights

Didn't like the view from our room looking out to a building, but that can't be helped. We didn't use room service. Breakfast was an extra cost and not included with the price we paid for the Superior King Room, which was disappointing. Everything was great, but if I'm going to nitpick about small details then I did notice the toilet roll holder in the bathroom was loose and needed to be secured, the tiles in the shower did get a bit slippery with soap and water so probably a good idea to have a non-slip mat in the bathroom. I had expected heated towel rails in the bathroom, but this wasn't the case and would've been nice. Also the location of the goose neck tap over bathroom basin made it very difficult to put my head over the basin to wash my face and rinse my mouth when I brushed my teeth, as the basin and tap are right up against the mirrors on the side and behind the tap.

Beautiful old building located about 10min walk from the Octagon. Staff were professional and friendly. Stunning main foyer with modern sculptures and artwork. Lovely old-style dark interior bar and seating area with gorgeous floral wall paper. The other seating area off the main foyer displayed old photos and history of the hotel, which was really interesting. The valet service for our car was very handy, but still up there in price at $40 per night. The room was gorgeous, as per the photo in Booking.com. Loved the classy, character panelling, the colours and interior decor, especially the feather lamp in the corner of the bedroom and the hint of Scottish heritage in the bed throw. The bathroom was well-equipped, clean and modern. Really enjoyed the movie channel offered by the hotel that wasn't Sky, which meant we could choose a movie and start it when we wanted to.

Shower pressure could be better. Stayed in two different rooms over two days and both rain shower heads were pretty weak

The design, the beds - cleanliness and big windows. Despite being a smaller hotel everything felt big and wide open. Wonderful ambience. And lovely staff!

I find the ventilation system is too noisy and even wearing ear plugs does not block it out.

The room was beautifully set out and the bed very comfortable. The coffee machine is a nice touch. The bathroom was nicely appointed with good products.

The really rude receptionist. The stairs are an issue as I had to drag 40kg of luggage up flights of stairs as the elevator doesn’t go up all the way? Confusing corridors The room was genuinely so tiny I couldn’t really lie my suitcase on the ground
