Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

EstoniaOne of the top things we did on our 5 week journey in Australia, New Zealand and Singapore. Couldn’t recommend enough. It was so special to stay in the sound for a night, only our boat. We went kayaking and there was no one else there. Morning cruise when the sun was rising and we were the only boat there… will never forget this. When we come back, we’ll definitely book an overnight cruise again.

Everything from arrival to departure was fabulous. The crew made my entire family feel very welcome despite it not generally being a child-appropriate cruise. The food was amazing, delicate and beautiful. Our chef was very good and creating a special 5 star meal for our children as well. Being able to jump in the water and kayak away from the boat, even though it was freezing, was so much fun. Highly recommend.

United KingdomI genuinely cannot think how this experience could be improved. It was a 'worth every penny, once-in-a-lifetime' experience for me and my friends.
We had a wonderful experience aboard Fiordland Jewel, a beautiful and well-equipped boat cruising Milford Sound. We were able to enjoy the magnificence of Milford Sound through the afternoon and evening and early in the morning. The crew were absolutely amazing and offered us various activities: we were able to kayak or take a small boat ride with Fletcher later in the afternoon to see the seals sleeping on the rocks and look for native birds and distinctive trees and ferns on the sides of Milford Sound. Some of us even dived and swam off the big boat - and we experienced a waterfall at a very close range! Francis the skipper provided a running commentary on the history, flora and fauna of Milford Sound - and he showed us a film created by Fiordland Discovery, showcasing the underwater life. Ed the chef prepared a truly excellent dinner and breakfast, and the bar had a good range on offer and was well-priced. We had a cheese and charcuterie board mid-afternoon, and were offered hot drinks and fruit at any time by the two lovely ladies crew mates. The atmosphere was relaxed and enjoyable, and we made new friends in no time (max capacity = 22 people). The cabins were very comfortable. At night, we watched the glory of the dark night sky from the hot tub, with pitch black surroundings and being completely alone on the water - and it was an experience beaten only by the early morning invitation by Francis to see the bottlenose dolphins, who were racing our boat, swimming just below the bow and keeping up with us for ages. They were clearly having fun - as did we, throughout our time sailing along Milford Sound. I would repeat this experience in a heartbeat, and would love to join this crew again on a longer (7-10 days) charter exploring Fiordland (something they are about to start doing as the autumn sets in, with helicopter transfers from Queenstown included in the price).

United StatesNothing comes to mind - except that I didn't want to get off the boat. SO, if they offered 2 & 3 night trips, that would be great!
This was the best decision of my trip so far - highly recommend. I must've gotten lucky, because most of the other guests had booked a year in advance. Food, accomodation, location, staff all fantastic.

United StatesI assumed drinks (beer and wine) would be included in our payment but it wasn't. So that was a bummer. Although the staff did make us aware before we purchased drinks.
The cruise crew were all friendly and welcoming and made sure we had a great time. The food was excellent. Having the opportunity to swim, kayak and jump of the boat was exciting and made our experience so much fun. Truly an amazing experience that we will never forget.

United StatesSandflies can be an annoyance on deck when close to shore, but nothing can be done about that other than to bring repellent.

United KingdomNothing at all other than, as we had a cabin for 4, and there were only 2 of us, I guess we paid over the odds.
A great experience- highly recommended! The scenery was breathtaking and the crew were fantastic. Commentary from the knowledgeable skipper and the presentation in the evening about the work of the boat really enhanced the experience as did the opportunity to go onto the water in a kayak or in the tender. The food, both dinner and breakfast, was excellent. One of the highlights of our holiday!
