Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

New ZealandThe lodge building itself felt a bit run down and not what we were expecting for a luxury lodge. The sink in our room looked like it had seen better days.
The room was really nice and had a separate lounge area to relax in when the weather wasn't great. They had a great selection of food and drinks options available. The lodge by far had the best food on the track. The staff were all really friendly.

New ZealandThere could be more options for vegetarians on the dinner menu.
Beautiful setting with lovely rooms well spaced over the complex. Our accomodation was nestled in the bush. The staff were welcoming and friendly. The facilities were excellent. The toiletries were very high quality. Having kayaks included was excellent. The meal at the restaurant was top class for three of our four diners. Our gluten free companion was well catered for.

AustraliaWifi wasn't great in the cabin but we weren't there to be on our phones. The scenery is stunning.
A perfect haven at the end of day 1 on the Queen Charlotte Track. A cold cider at the bar followed but a dip in the sound and soak in the hot tub before an amazing dinner. Couldn't ask for anything more. Highly recommend.

AustraliaThe hot tub was not working as well as it could have been.
The staff were so welcoming and friendly. Pip in the office, particularly, was lovely and helpful with our booking and welcoming us to Furneaux. We were walking the Queen Charlotte Track and appreciated arriving to such a beautiful and luxurious retreat. We stayed in the Endeavour Suites which were beautifully and comfortably appointed - great beds, lovely toiletries and facilities , private with a beautiful outlook. It lived up to all our expectations.

United KingdomMy only slight niggle was that the transport to the island it transpired was run by the same company/organisation who ran the hotel - at least the same payment details appeared on the bill. Despite this there was no integrated facility to book transport at the time of booking. We hadn't realised how far the journey was and assumed it was more of a water taxi type service so left the booking until very late which could have ended in disaster - a room and no way to get there. Obviously partly our own fault but we were doing an extensive tour of NZ and had many things to organise.
The hotel was fantastic located on the lovely Endeavour inlet. The view from the room amazing and the room itself very comfortable with a very good bathroom. We didn't have breakfast because were leaving early I so can't comment on that but the evening meal was good and food and drinks were no pricier than the mainland which was nice given that they do have a captive market somewhat. I would recommend.

United KingdomI had very high expectations based on reviews and pictures and thought that this would be my favourite and the most luxurious property on the sounds. But it was more rustic than expected. It felt more like a campground than an hotel. The bar and games area were very untidy, needed a hoover. The cleanliness of our room was not good, with a spillage on the kitchen units not wiped down and a child's dummy left on the floor in our bedroom! Evidently a rush job. It was also disappointing to only have an expensive buffet option for the evening meal, with long queues. The food was OK, not special, but popular items kept running out with more waiting in line for replenishment. Some of these issues above are probably specific to it being very busy for the New Years Eve. But as a result I preferred Punga Cove.
Beautiful grounds and location. Great provision of games to play on the large flat lawns. We had the cottage furthest away from the main building so it was quiet and our sleep was not disturbed despite the New Years entertainment and celebrations in the bar. Staff were friendly and helpful. Enjoyed the a la carte breakfast. Plenty of outdoor seating for drinks and meals. Enjoyed the hot tub too.
