How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Could update the indoors a bit more, a fresh coat of paint, fixing the tears in the wallpaper etc

The owner went out of his way to help me find it when I arrived after dark and the chalet had ample space and facilities for a solo traveller, with peaceful, green surroundings.

The outside and gardens haven't been maintained, a shame as it would be great restored to it's former glory

More toilet paper we had less than half a roll and there was very little dish washing liquid
I have stayed at the Grandeur a number of times over the last 3 years, I always book a Chalet and I love the fact that I can have a spa bath since I don't have a spa bath at home

You are able to hear loud conversations and tvs from adjoining rooms through the walls, however the people staying either side of us were very curteous & quiet and we tried to be as well! So this wasn't an issue for us, but just something to consider.
Comfortable beds, quiet location, affordable, great staff who made contact and also waited for us to arrive in the evening. Kitchenette worked well for our needs.

The driveway had massive potholes
This place is just off the bypass. The bathroom was brand new and everything else perfect. The setting is lovely. Its in a valley with a walk to the river nearby.

Could do with some tlc, but for the price, it was as expected. The walls were very thin, could hear the people next door banging doors and going up and down stairs and loud voices, luckily by around 11pm everything was quiet. We were asked to keep our dog on a lead at all times but not all guests did so a dog came into our room and got aggressive towards our pup. Not the resorts fault but wasn't ideal as we wanted to walk our pup but didn't want to deal with the other dog.
Good value, clean and had everything we needed for our stay, dog friendly which was great

The sheets were stained which we didn’t notice until the morning, and there were bugs in the unit but they didn’t bother us.
The bathroom in our unit was newly renovated and the unit had lots of space! The whole place is a huge property and has potential.

Only gripe would be the other guests, with one lot parking across the driveway to charge their electric car and another group partying till the early hours of the morning with little to no regard of the other guests.
It is a great location and extremely well priced, super helpful and friendly staff. Extremely accommodating, seeing as we were traveling with a long trailer for a motorsport event.

The setting was very beautifull Looked like that at some stage it was a lovely place. Needs a clean around the garden, weeding, paint in the verandah. Some curtain need hooks.

The premises were very tired and needing renovation - but if you look past that the basics were very good.
Bed was very comfortable. Nice white professionally laundered linen. Location was fantastic - close to Spa Park and the walk to Huka falls. Lovely sitting outside in the morning sun. Beautiful location in a canyon. Peaceful and quiet away from the road. Quite secluded but not far to Taupo town. Outstanding value for money.

Its just older than the pouncy stuff on the lake front. Took some flak from the wife over the harsh reviews.
Its more out of the way. Its kinda rustic. Was quiet and chill. I wanted to check out the track to the huka river. So will probs go back to check it out.

The property could do with a clean up, overgrown vegetation, broken fences and tired looking exterior don't do much for it's aesthetic appeal. The shower didn't drain the water well, Info packs in rooms about restaurants/attractions in the area would be helpful for travellers and the tv connection cut in and out
Great communication from staff when I needed late check in. Location was perfect for our trip, close to everything we needed but still far enough from CBD that it was nice and quiet. Room was clean and tidy and the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful.
