The area around the hostel doesn't seem like the best, though this didn't really negatively impact my stay. The WiFi is a bit weaker in the TV room and back bedroom even using the hotspot.

The staff members were all very helpful and friendly, and there is a massive well stocked kitchen. The bathrooms were super clean and it's nice to have individual rooms rather than cubicles. Showers always hot and decent water pressure. The curtains across the beds helped with privacy, and I could fit all of my luggage into the locker beneath the bed. I also slept brilliantly! It was also good that they had more than one social space. Very close to a bus stop that has many bus routes connecting through it.

Extremely dodgy area with many homeless and drunk addicts frequenting the surrounding area. A man was shot dead a short distance from the hostel during my stay, so I didn't feel safe venturing out alone at night. If I had known that the hostel was in such a bad area, then I would have definitely opted to stay elsewhere. Extremely loud at night, with music blaring and shouting - therefore I often struggled to sleep and subsequently had low energy the following day. Another issue was the bad smell in the shower facilities on my floor. It was so bad that I ended up showering on different levels. This should be addressed from a cleanliness point of view. I also heard about multiple bed bug outbreaks from fellow travellers. Whilst this did not directly affect me, it did make me feel less comfortable staying there.

Friendly staff, good facilities for the price point. Rooms were cleaned daily and there were quite a few communal spaces where you could chill out and socialise. The ability to check-in late was excellent, and I was sent detailed instructions ahead of my arrival with instructions on how to access my key, etc. Happy to say that I met some nice fellow travellers during my stay, who I now class as friends!

- bad smell in top floor showers. I opted to shower elsewhere. - incredibly rough location. I didn’t feel safe going he outside the hostel alone at night. Lots of homeless and drug addicts hanging around. A fatal shooting occurred 10 minutes away, which has prompted me to check out & move elsewhere.

The Haka Lodge is great for backpackers and short term stays. Basic facilities and good location for public transport. It was clean and the staff, especially Jamie, were very helpful and friendly.

It's a hostel, but they could at least take the trash out of the rooms. The shower stinks, the window is like it's not there (you can hear the noise from the street - as people have written here) and street people are just weird. But! The cheapest room and for the price this accommodation is perfect :)

Price - close to the centre, lots of nice food in the street (must try poke poke!), room facilities absolutely sufficient, toilet and bathroom just across the corridor

I stayed in a room with 20 beds (!) and zero windows, but it worked. Everybody had their basic privacy even though the space was cramped. The toilets and showers were clean and functional. It was fabulous to chat with other guests in the kitchen and the lounge and to exchange tall tales and evocative experiences from our voyages. I loved the overall upbeat vibe and the heart-warming international camaraderie of this place! Go K-Road! PS I would definitely recommend to anyone who is into LOTR to pay a visit to Hobbiton, which is only two hours’ drive from here.

The dorm room was right next to an alleyway outside where people congregate, gets noisy at night. The light is on a timer in the downstairs bathroom an goes out after a while. So if you take a long time in the stall better to use the other floor’s bathroom. Sometimes they start cleaning & vacuuming the dorm rooms before the 10am checkout, so harder to sleep in.

Bathrooms were cleaned regularly, so was kitchen (which was stocked with tea, coffee, sugar, & lots of leftover spices to use). Bed had privacy curtain, locker, lights, & personal sockets for charging electronics. Everyone is kinda doing their own thing, just have to be okay with starting the conversation. Hostel overall had a very good vibe. Special thanks to Luca for being informative, welcoming on arrival, & throughout my stay. Alejandro was very friendly and had some great talks. Jimmy for sharing his crepes with guests. And Sein (spelling?) for always being chipper and helpful.

The staff Lena and Lia were very friendly and helped me out with planning my day. The toilet and showering room were very clean. The kitchen was sociable. They also provide free luggage storing service.

I had an issue where I had booked a bed in an 8-person room, but without informing me, they placed me in a 10-person room. Upon realizing this, I asked the staff about the situation and they informed me that there had been an issue with my room and they relocated me. It was only at that moment that they mentioned refunding me, and I had to contact booking customer service (fortunately, it was resolved well and quickly).

The staff is very friendly, the location and value for money are good. My stay was fine.
