How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

I had to make sure I got a park out the front of the hotel since travelling alone.
I stayed as my mother was in Southern Cross Hospital, was great location for the hospital and was good to have a restaurant in house when travelling along.

Booked room through a website (not ridges one), it said check in was at 12 when i arrived at 12 i was told i had to wait. Which was a issue as i had a child that needed to sleep. Also the website said breakfast was included which once there I was told it wasn't.

When we arrived in the room some of the amenities were not restocked. There were no bin liners in the bins, the robes looked like they had been worn and just rehung (one didn’t have a belt with it and looked crinkled indicating it was possibly just worn). There was no informational booklet about the hotel in the room nor any room service booklet.
The heated pool/hot tubs. The play room. The dinner area and in the rooms, the room we had looked recently renovated and modern. The room was a deluxe double room and was very spacious. The staff at every area of the hotel were very friendly and helpful. We loved taking our kids for the night as there was plenty to do without even leaving the hotel! We had the buffet dinner and breakfast on site and the dinner was great: seafood (crawfish, prawns, mussels etc), deserts, meats, hot dishes, vegetables, kids finger foods etc. breakfast was absolutely great as well! Cereals, hot foods, fruits, etc. we will definitely be back again!

The in-house restaurant is overpriced. That there was no cutlery or microwave was annoying when bringing food in. But it wasn't such an issue that it would stop me from staying here again.
Very comfortable rooms and the bathroom was great.

The elevator was a bit dated
Beds were comfortable, loved the bathroom light sensor. It was relatively quiet and staff was friendly.

Right next to stinky sulphur hot pools, so the room was smelly (Typical Rotorua sulfur smell)
Room was lovely, comfy beds and a good size. Pool and spa were lovely and warm. Laundry facilities were good and was first stay that the dryer actually dried our washing in the one cycle. Breakfast buffet was good, lots of options.

Size of the room and the shower head was old/dirty.
As a frequent international traveler, I loved the location of the property but then, for the price charged, most hotel rooms are much better. I would recommend this hotel for people looking to crash that night.

Incredible breakfast - really fresh with lots of great options. Room was really comfortable. The location is a bit out of town but we knew that in advance of booking so not a complaint. We had a great stay ! The hotel gym was a plus.

Definitely not value for money, receptionist not friendly at all bed was hard .. I could have sworn I paid for breakfast included feel like I had been tricked in my booking somewhere .. will definitely screen shot all my booking offers from now on.. we paid way more than expected for our room if the price included breakfast then what we paid would have been justifiable ..

The scrambled eggs at the breakfast buffet could be improved, perhaps offer some other egg options as well such as boiled eggs. It would be nice if fresh milk was provided in the rooms.
Amazing staff, special mention to Paula from the restaurant who made my birthday very special! A very comfortable stay for families. We loved the pool, spa and games room. Overall very comfortable with great service.
