Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

New ZealandRooms were very small not a lot of space for bags and could really do with some hooks on the wall or back of door to hang jackets
Location was great

New ZealandGreat location, and a great price. Our double room with private bathroom was all that you really need. It is tight, but we weren't planning on spending any time in the room, except to sleep and have a shower!

United KingdomThe kitchen is tiny so expected to eat out most times. The pods meant it was pretty antisocial. Pretty sure I had bed bugs in my bed and when our whole room was too hot and we were sweating in winter they couldn’t do anything about it.
The pods were good for privacy and the top communal area was nice. Good location.

The room was warm and clean but it's not very nice not having your own temperature control or window. I had an internal room which was very claustrophobic

GermanyThe bed was uncomfortable and the mattress had mold. Hopefully the mattresses will be replaced with new ones. The kitchen is tiny for so many people.
The location of the hostel is great. Everything is within walking distance. The lounge is very nicely furnished and the view from the balcony is beautiful.

New Zealand- The other half of the staff weren’t particularly friendly or helpful. - Not enough floor space in rooms - barely wide enough to open a large suitcase! - Lockers are great in principle but aren’t big enough for large cases and codes are easily reset. - Our room had no window or natural light which made it feel a bit like a prison cell. - Nowhere to hang towels or anything else that needs airing out. - Not very social. It seems the pods may attract less social backpackers? I’ve probably stayed in nearly 100 hostels across 6 continents and this is the first time I haven’t had a conversation with a single person in the room.
- Pods are more private than regular hostel bunk beds and have their own light, fan, sockets, mirror, locker and privacy screen. - Good location - easy walking distance from anything you’ll want to access in town. - Bathroom clean and well ventilated. - Half the staff were friendly and helpful!

IndonesiaThe bathroom is the least favourite of my stay here. It doesn't have any heater (not water heater) so it's kind of cold when I have to shower early in the morning or at late night. Also, I got the 1st floor, they only have 1 sink in the 1st floor and it annoys me so much especially when I have to brush my teeth or dry my hair and then someone needs to wash their hand from the toilet. Also, I hate it so much that the lounge only open from 6am-10pm. I think the lounge should be open for 24 hour because it makes me really hard when I want to have phone call above 10pm. The lobby has no chair so I'm forced to just standing on the aisle to do phone call at night. And the last is, cleanliness need to be work on. The bed is clean, but I doubt the cleaner actually wipes all the pod area. I found some dirt on it and I ended up wiping it myself.
First of all, the location is very great! it's really near bus stop and Queenstown Mall, it's very easy to get food or groceries here. I also like the kitchen, laundry, and the lounge. The lounge have really nice ambience and also nice view. I like they having social events but unfortunately I didn't have a chance to experience it. The staff is also very friendly and helpful! The bed is just okay but the pod is bigger than I expected. The locker is also so big it could fit 1 big luggage and a backpack. The room also have warm heater.
