How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Beautiful place to stay. We loved the bedroom and shower. You can feel the love that has been put into the whole house to feel at home straight away. Even the tea cups matched the linen in the guest bedroom. We slept 9 hours straight through. It was just what we needed after traveling around. Peaceful and beautiful ❤️

Really nice home stay. Much better than we thought it would be. We did the Mangawhei Clifftop walk the following morning which is exceptional-do it on a low tide though or you have to walk all the steps both ways.

Although it wasn’t a problem booking.com could say that entry was through the main house. Thou we did have our own private bedroom and bathroom walking through to it felt a bit uncomfortable for us
Very tidy with plenty of space. The host was very respectful of our privacy , she meet us at the door and explained how everything worked.

Bedroom opened onto sunny deck, protected from the wind - nice. All the comforts of home and then some! Comfy bed, well appointed bathroom, and use of lounge and kitchen much appreciated.

Was a little taken aback , when we arrived home to find the windows and curtains closed in our room. Maybe i missed the description of the property being in a home with the owner sharing common spaces. ( and entering our room while we were out) The Towels were rather stiff and rough.
Lovely home and Lynne was chatty and friendly , great location, easy to find . Comfortable bed , well set up room .

This is an Air BnB type accommodation, central to Mangawhai Village, run by a delightful host. It was a one night stopover on my journey north, as there is a diversion due to road closure and this accommodation is handily on route. There was good parking, it was very comfortable, with a shared lounge area combined with full privacy of your own room and bathroom. It is modern, as the name suggests, and very clean. I walked down to the Mangawhai Tavern and had a superb vegan burger.....I can highly recommend. Great value for money.

Only thing I would say bed was a bit uncomfortable for me, but apart from that everything else was great. Beautiful property highly recommend.
Lynne was very friendly and accommodating, in fact we hardly saw her. Everything was there that we needed, very nice place 🌸 cat Reuben was so cute

I hadn't realised that i would be sharing any space with anyone else. I would normally have not booked in such a situation, but the proprietor was friendly and made it as comfortable for me as she could. I only saw her at breakfast time, and there was no discomfort really.
No breakfast or meals supplied, I made my own in the shared kitchen (shared with the proprietor). Equipment that I needed (cutlery, plates, cups, pantry space, fridge space) was provided (again shared with the proprietor, with an allocated shelf for the fridge and pantry in her kitchen)

Well-appointed, large room and bathroom, with a sunny, private patio. Lynn welcomed us with tea and biscuits, and let us use the shed to store our bikes. The fully-equipped shared kitchen opens on to a large deck, and a bonus - a cat and a dog to make friends with. Thanks Lynn for sharing your lovely home with us!

Some parts of the kitchen weren't as clean as we would have liked but it was a minor thing compared to all the goodness!
Great location, great value for money. Lovely host. Rooms were nicely decorated. Close to shops and restaurants.
