Super easy to collect keys that were left for us in a secure box. The shared kitchen is large and well equipped. Lovely living space and even with several other couples staying it never felt cramped or busy. Clean shared bathrooms and comfy beds. A lovely stay

    Nothing we didn’t like

The history, the incredible views, the farm animals and the walks. The simplicity of the lodge and sharing main areas with so few.

We would have liked to be able to check in earlier to take in a walk before dinner. A 4:00pm check in minimises the time you have to enjoy being there.

We really enjoyed the landscape, animals, night sky, super comfy hut (called the Tent) and conversing with the other guests. If you enjoy the NZ back country, you will love it here. We recommend a two night stay minimum.

    Nothing to not like!

The accomodation is basic but you'll want for nothing while here. The bedrooms are comfy and decent sized, and the shared bathrooms have what you need. We stayed in the company of some awesome travellers and enjoyed it as well. We enjoyed walking around the property and seeing the farm animals, particularly the highland cows giving you stares when you walked past. The owners have also sign-posted a several km walk (with 300m elevation) to a gorgeous lookout of Mt Cook, and have put a cute bench there to sit and admire the view. We had a long trip through the South Island and this stay was our favourite. Highly recommend.

There was a note in the guest book regarding strong smelling food specifically ‘curry’ which I thought was insensitive. I’m sure this was not intended to be targeted to a particular group but there’s plenty of strong smelling foods that do not belong to the Indian cuisine. I would advise this paragraph be rephrased to avoid offence.

    Lovely, tranquil, great views

    Nothing

A truly exceptional place. Shearers quarters from 1900 given modern update but without losing any of the character. Crisp linen on really comfortable beds in absolute quiet. The drive there along a gravel road give the best views of Mt Cook that you will see. Kitchen modern and stocked like home Lovely meeting Alana and hearing about life on the farm and bringing up a family.. Wonderful.. Not to be missed.

Hard to fault .. perhaps a few hanging hooks in the rooms/bathroom if I'm being reeeeaaally picky 🤷🏻‍♀️

What an exceptional location?! Such a privilege for the Mt Cook Station family to let us share a taste of their stunning corner of the island on this busy working farm. Tucked away from all the Mt Cook tourism and yet seemingly within touching distance of Aoraki. Spectacular views on the drive in - along almost the full length of the east coast of beautiful Lake Pukaki..the approach from Lake Tekapo if you drive 'over the top' is pretty special as the vistas gradually open up to the west as you come across. The Shearers' quarters are clean and tidy ..well appointed and comfortable with fab cooking facilities and great hot showers. Access to some wonderful walks on the property with astonishing views across to Aoraki. Alana is clearly very proud of her business and is a warm engaging host. Just be aware...you are WELL OFF the beaten track here. That's the joy of Mt Cook Shearers' quarters.
