Loved this place! Designed in a very thoughtful way that meets every traveller's needs and beyond with cozy rooms, beds with curtains and plug ins, hot water bottles, benches and enough hooks in the dorms, free towels, a well equipped kitchen, cozy common areas and a free massage chair :)

Brilliant location for town and penguin colony. Lovely accommodation, spotless, breakfast included. Lots of effort made by owners to make in unique, Christmas decorations etc, couldn’t fault it.

Such a lovely Backpackers - with the chic and options for staying in motel-like rooms as well. Great location near to the heritage end of Oamaru, the Sunday market and the beach. Handy if you have a car though.

The place was so comfortable and cosy. Considering I didn’t see any staff it was super clean everywhere and they use a dishwasher so can use the dishes a bit more comfortably (not relying on others cleaning!) The location was great too, walking distance from the centre and to see the penguin colony. The extra touches are really nice too, the veg garden, breakfast etc. I’ve recommended this hostel to others already who have loved it here too!

I appreciate that this property is kept so securely (a notice to all guests not to open the door to anyone) but I was surprised that there was no reception staff when I turned up at 3pm. When I found trouble using my online key (I'd never used one before), I had to ring for help. I was anxious that the call wasn't picked up and was about to set off into town, when I got the return call and the problem was solved.

We had a very large, comfortable, clean basement room overlooking the hostel flower garden and, unexpectedly, the harbour. We ate our takeaways at the window table in our own room to enjoy the sweeping views, but all the upstairs common areas offered this too. There's plenty to do inside, with board games and lots of reading materials. Proximity to all attractions is an additional plus - just moments away from the Victorian precinct and harbour.

Didn’t really see any members of staff except for the cleaners, which was fine but it would’ve been good to have a reception or someone around. A few people struggled with the online key system as well

It was very comfortable; a home away from home! It had lovely views over the pier and a massage chair as well. The beds were sturdy and had plenty of privacy. It was also about a 10 min walk away from the blue penguin colony so that was a pretty special experience watching them come in during the evening!

Bathrooms were slightly tired looking and the WiFi kept dropping in and out. Would definitely stay here again though!

We had a really comfy double room with a great view of the garden (where you could help yourself to veggies available!), kitchen was super clean with a dishwasher and great facilities! Amazing to have cereals and tea/coffee available! Loads of lounge space with a massage chair. Met some lovely people there. Within walking distance to everywhere in Oamaru.

The only thing I think that needs mentioning is that Room 8 dresser needs a paint. The drawers have paint chipping off - it devalues the room for sure and is soooooo easy to fix.

Very nice cosy hostel! They really went above and beyond with what they provided, including a massage chair (with a view!!) And some cereal/biscuits/spread for breakfast. Rooms were really nice and comfortable with a privacy curtain, usb charging and personal lamp.

this was the cutest and most homey hostel i've stayed at so far in new zealand! the facilities were great and it had an amazing view of the harbour! the common areas were so nice and very comfy! the kitchen had everything you needed! the rooms were nice and had a decent amount of space and had privacy curtains which was so nice! you are not right in city center but you are very close to the victorian precinct which i thought was better than being right in town! there is no one physically at the property working which can be tough but they responded to texts immediately!

A little pricey for a backpackers with shared bathroom.

Fantastic location & views from the lounge room. The shared lounge space has a massage chair and it’s awesome!
