Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomJust be mindful that boutique hotels often have odd features. The toilet privacy will not suit all as it is sliding glass.
Location. Quirky nature

CanadaWe had an issue with noise from the air conditioner, but the staff were great about it.
This little boutique hotel had everything we needed and wanted: the rooms were so well appointed, with extra little touches like two Nespresso machines, a choice of pillows, cool 60s decor and cleverly designed layouts; the staff went out of their way to ensure we were comfortable, and got us into our second room (we had to make two separate bookings) immediately after we left the first; the hotel is well situated, walking distance to the waterfront, restaurants, bars and shopping; and the breakfasts were outstanding. Stay here! You won’t be disappointed.

AustraliaRealy can't pick any negatives as we enjoyed the whole time we were there.
The location was all we wanted to be close to Aukland's waterfront with all its vibrancy. A perfect location to celebrate our 50th Wedding Anniversat at a nearby restaurant which was excellent.

United KingdomThird floor room at the back was very quiet but very hot when we arrived with huge windows facing west. Not a huge issue but perhaps housekeeping could keep the curtains closed in summer before guests check in?
Small hotel but large, stylish rooms with comfortable bed and every amenity, great facilities, welcome drink and excellent breakfast. Very helpful and friendly staff. Excellent location 5 minutes walk to the bars and restaurants of the harbour front.

If your hotel offers a pillow service with 6 (?) different options - you know you‘ve hit the jackpot! Lovely midcentury modern style of the hotel. Very spacious room. Great location right at the marina. What more could you want?

United KingdomSome of the rooms have windows that don’t open . Stayed for two nights and where given a room with a window on the second night as preferred the fresh air to air conditioning being on all the time. The bathroom is cleverly part of the bedroom , behind glass - going to the toilet is not really hidden and maybe a problem for some guests - there is one downstairs however if an issue. Only being allowed 1 drink as part of the breakfast package seemed a bit mean for the standard of the hotel - ie you could either have an orange juice or hot drink but not both, unless you paid for it - compared to the excellent attention given to the other amenities, that one was a bit disappointing.
Small boutique chain - very clean and comfortable, trendy decor, very good selection of toiletries, quality towels, good nights sleep had in the large bed. Good location near the harbour. Good al a carte breakfast of which 1 choice can be made on the menu. Staff very friendly, thank you Luke for looking after us.

United StatesThis was not a big deal but worth mentioning: We wanted to use the pool and hot tub at 9:15PM (was advertised to close at 11PM) and the clerk followed us out and told us that it would be closing soon. When we said we thought it was open until 11, he told us to go in but to 'make it quick'. We opted not to go in after that interaction. Also, the hot tub was enclosed in what looked like a cage and was not very inviting. I understand that they have to take safety precautions but that seemed a bit harsh..
Location- was 2 min walk to Viaduct and many restaurants and attractions- very vibrant scene- Staff overall was great, especially Nicole- She greeted us outside on the arrival of our airport shuttle and helped us with our bags and check in- Housekeeping staff also very friendly- Front desk happily booked our airport taxi for us as well- Rooms very tastefully decorated and comfortable- would definitely stay here again
