Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaHearing the neighbours move around and talk, the door between the rooms was not sound proof.

New ZealandWould have preferred one of the other cabins along the side because they seemed to have more views of the surrounding mountains. Had to walk past neighbour's cabin to get to ours and did not like that.
Room 12. Did like the privacy. No one could walk past our cabin. Warm, cozy and beds were comfortable. I had everything I needed in the little kitchenette. Great wifi.

United KingdomWe kept running out of toilet roll, and asked to re-fill it and only gave us one roll!! So ended up running out in the night as we were a cabin with 5 people! Which is not good at all. Also we didn’t have any washing up liquid or sponge, had to ask for it, and someone in the cabin stole the chopping board and then returned it. Also, the shower was a problem as all the water drained from the shower curtain on the floor, so you end up avoiding the bathroom floor at all costs as other people’s shower water is all over the floor, but the only soap for the sink is in there. The shower water on the floor doesn’t dry either, so it was there for the few days we were there, someone left multiple wet towels on the floor covered in brown soil.
Nice cabins, liked how we had our own kitchen and bathroom between only 3 rooms, and cute rooms with lots of storage, lots of cupboards in the house. Some cabins are more modern, but we got the dated style one which smelt old. We didn’t mind at all though as was a cute cabin, the location is great up a hill down to the town 10-15mins away.

AustraliaSorely in need of some maintenance. Apart from flaking paint, some mould on walls. And tired carpet in a place of snow and mud, the gas stove dials were worn out and dangerous, some laundry equipment broken - but in huge demand. Very tight 6 bunk rooms
Excellent location. Relatively easy to reach. Kitchen well stocked with implements Good company from all round the world Quite good price

Australiaunfortunately we picked the wrong day to do our laundry, one room was completely closed as they were installing new machines and the other laundry had one machine out of order and the other one in use. We decided to do hand washing, but there was no plug and no water came out of either tap. We gave up!
after having problems with our TV for 2 nights and nobody could fix it, we were upgraded to a one bedroom unit which was really fabulous and much appreciated.

New ZealandBathrooms are very old and poor, also it has only two showers in house for at least 12 or more people. Kitchen was very poorly equipped and the fridge was more freezer than a fridge, all the food was freezed…
The location was pretty good and it was very clean hostel. I appreciate that kitchen and bathrooms was in the same house as room not across the whole area.

New ZealandSomeone in room M6 had their alarm going, it woke me at 6am and we were at other end of the hallway in M2. The alarm had been going for 2 hours. Was not impressed. Why set an alarm if 1. You don’t wake up to it. 2. You don’t hear it. 3. You don’t turn it off. 4. Obviously didn’t need to set it as he wasn’t in a hurry to get up.
I liked the wee block of rooms, nice a cosy plus everyone was friendly….had some good yarns.

MalaysiaUnfortunately my room shower & toilet had a strong sewer-like odour from the drain; running the water and flushing did not help very much. My co-travellers did not have this issue with the other 2 rooms. The access up to the room was quite narrow; and it was hard to not track autumn leaves into the room.
Location was very central and walking distance to Queenstown city centre. Parking directly in front of the unit was also very convenient. Front of house staff were extremely helpful in resolving a booking error, and we were able to book another room on the spot.

AustraliaAfter the power went out in the building we were moved to another building. The first building was far more suited to “share” accommodation, whereas the one we were moved to was not ideal for a family and other guests to share. There was one toilet downstairs off the kitchen and one shower upstairs near the bedrooms that was in a room like a cupboard. Kitchen and bathroom facilities were very old and tired.
It is located close to the centre of town and has car parking.

AustraliaWe were in a very old studio unit. Door did not open fully as the end of bed was against it. No room to when cases were on the floor as there was no other room to place them. Unable to have shower in morning before we left as we could not get hot water in shower. Mentioned when checking out and all was said “I will mention it “.
Staff were exceptional at check in and bed was very comfortable.
