Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

New ZealandHowever, it's worth noting that the fridge is not functional, and the walkway lights are out, making it challenging to open the door in the dark.
Overall, this place offers an excellent experience with its breathtaking views and cleanliness. However, it's worth noting that the fridge is not functional, and the walkway lights are out, making it challenging to open the door in the dark. This accommodation is not recommended for individuals with mobility challenges as there is no lift, and you have to navigate steps to access the lower floor. On the positive side, the kitchen is well-equipped and has everything you need. This place comes highly recommended for young families seeking a pleasant stay.

AustraliaUnfortunately, the bedding was quite uncomfortable. The outdoor furniture could do with an upgrade as well. Also there were no wine glasses. Maybe a bit of an upgrade with furniture/houseware would go a long way
Location and view was amazing. Great walk along the lake to get into town. Never felt cold, good heating.

New ZealandDo not recommend. NO sofa beds as were advertised. Hosts were based overseas. We booked at short notice for a family of five for three nights. No sofa beds, no mattress protectors, no TV signal (due to strong wind and not fixed during our stay), no bike (locked with no key), no toilet paper (you need a passcode which we were advised on checkout) a broken door handle which we had to pay to get removed by a locksmith. No refunds given by booking.com or the hosts. The hosts have made untrue statements to us and we expect they will do this again with replies to this review. Please read all other guest reviews. In the hallway outside the apartment was a large mattress. I questioned the missing sofa beds, they replied “the mattress outside the apartment is not ours”, “the grey sofa is also used by some guests”. Upon checkout I mentioned how uncomfortable our bed was and there were no mattress protectors, they stated “we have recently upgraded the mattress, and the protector is on its way, as you may have noticed the new mattress in the hallway”, this being the same mattress they said wasn’t theirs. The fold out foam mattress we used was stained. Hosts advised not to lock the bedroom door as the key was lost. The strike plate was jammed with cardboard and the handle was damaged. When the door shut it locked us out, hosts refuse to believe the handle was damaged and continue to say we manually locked the door and locked ourselves out of the bedroom one evening. Hosts reply to arranging a locksmith was “I guess someone might show up tomorrow morning” then “the locksmith will only be able to come tomorrow at 10am”, they were expecting us to sleep on the floor with no blankets . We organised and paid for a locksmith that night, who confirmed the handle was broken and no key would have opened it. The host say “locksmith may have been inexperienced”. No key left in area described for the bike lock. Hosts say “my property is not a resort”.
Location had a nice view. Bus stop nearby.

New ZealandThe apartment was falsely advertised and didn't have 2 sofa beds like it stated and my children had to sleep on a couch for 4 nights, and there weren't any extra blankets for the "sofa beds". When I asked about a compensation the owners saod it wasnt possible? The twin bed was very uncomfortable as the springs in it felt worn and the headboard was loose which moved when I moved. When I messaged the owner about my concerns they didnt acknowledge what I said saying that previous guests were fine with it. Having a $300 cleaning fee for a 80m² apartment seems outrageous and when I questioned about it they said that power can be expensive. Wouldn't stay here again
The View was great, and location was good

New ZealandIn short - the overseas based hosts (India) were not prepared for our booking, did not meet the check in time, did not clean the apartment, and had horrible communication. First of all, the check in time of our booking was 16:00. We arrived just after 16:00 and were unable to enter the apartment since the hosts did not yet give us the access code in the booking confirmation. I decided to ring them and at this stage realised the first red flag, they had an overseas number (India) and there was no one else to contact in New Zealand, let alone Queenstown. I rang the hosts multiple times and sent multiple messages on whatsapp and they did not respond. I contacted booking.com and they also couldn't get hold of the hosts and they said if they do not respond within the next half an hour (at this stage it was already over an hour since the agreed check in time and getting dark), they would cancel and refund the booking. The hosts finally contacted us just before the 30 minute expiry. They said that the apartment needed a "vacuum" and that it would be ready 18:15 (over 2 hours after the check in time). This was the second red flag - why would the apartment need a vacuum, shouldn't it have already been cleaned after the previous guests? Shortly after arriving, my mother shouted in disgust as she realised that the bed sheets had not been cleaned, and had two fresh yellow stains (yes, you know what I am talking about). We were so disgusted that we decided to pack up and leave immediately leave. I sent photos to the host as proof and told them that we were leaving and to refund us the booking. The hosts not only refused to refund the booking, they even had the nerve to blame us the following day for using the the sheets (even though I sent them photos immediately and left the premises which they can check on their cctv). Stay away. These hosts have no respect and are faceless.

AustraliaThe stairs down to the apartment were a bit of a challenge for someone with knee issues but meant that the apartment was very private.
The view was stunning, Terrific location if you have a car. Well appointed apartment - kitchen very serviceable, good washing machine, all very comfortable. Great access to the path along the lake. Lovely trickling waterfall adjacent.

New ZealandWe booked this property for six nights, however, the boiler made a very loud noise, waking us up every early morning around 2-3a.m. I initially thought this was an unexpected problem, so I informed the owner (Yatish and Sonali)on day two, and they promised to send a mechanic to fix it. Since then, there has been no communication, so I assumed the problem had been resolved; however, the second night noise began again around same time. On day three, I messaged the owner again, and they apologised for the mechanic's absence on day two, and they arranged for another mechanic to fix the problem. I was angry at their ineffective communication. They would notify me on day two so that we could try to prevent the noise( switch off the boiler or release pressure before we go to bed). After the mechanic checked the boiler (owner said checked), I was told that the part to fix the problem was not available in Queenstown and that I would have to wait until tomorrow. Our trip is fully booked for every day, and I really don't want to change hotels. So we decided that no matter when they could fix the problem, we could just switch off the boiler at night. Unfortunately, noise woke me up again at 2 a.m. on the third night, despite the fact that I had switched off the boiler. Then I realised that this problem may have existed for a long time but that no one had noticed because the owner is not in Queenstown and is not in charge of this property. On day four, I messaged the owner, saying that I'd had enough of the bad sleep and that my parents were in their 70s, and that the lack of sleep had caused their blood pressure to rise. I requested to check out on day four and receive a refund for the rest three nights so that we could find a place where we could sleep well. However, they never response my request and instead 'apologise for the issue, you have been very patient, please wait for sometimes', 'I only have your booking for this holiday season.

New ZealandThey didn't have any toilet paper on the premises so we had to go and buy our own rolls. One of the chairs snapped on me as I sat on it which could've been quite dangerous considering I fell over because of it
The views were amazing, and their excellent location and easy parking made it easy to get in and out.
