While bed was comfy, found pillows to be not so comfy, minor issue.

Unit was very clean and tidy, very handy to Westfield Mall, 10 minute walk away. Our unit was at the rear, well away from any traffic noise from a busy Riccarton Ave, with car parking just outside the unit.

The owner although an aussie was super friendly and helpful, the room and bathroom really clean and after a week of sleeping in terrible beds it was bliss sleeping in their large comfortable bed. Very close to hagley Park and monster chicken......what more could you want

Great stay. We chose the hotel because of proximity to Christchurch. We found the accommodation to be to a better standard than you would expect from a motel. We stayed 11 days, probably more than the standard visit. We appreciated the small kitchen facilities and the laundry facilities. Greg, the manager of the hotel, was an excellent guy. Always a pleasure to see him and banter with him - really great. His wife also gave us good advice relating to travel around.

Cleanest hotel I’ve stayed in. Well maintained and helpful staff. My room was at the front of the hotel on the main road and I could not hear any traffic. It was quiet.

Need a mirror in the room, (preferably full length), as hard to get ready when there is only one in the bathroom and we both needed it.

Very friendly welcome/staff, love the spa bath and little patio we had. We've stayed before. Great location. Great to have all the Sky channels.

Right off the bat there was an overwhelming odor of floral incense everywhere in the room and bathroom. Probably great if sitting in a perfume cloud is your thing but, sheesh! They took it away immediately when we said something, but we had to air out the place for the next two days and constantly had all the doors and windows open trying to get fresh air in. Ironically, in it's normal state, it doesn't have any kind of foul or unpleasant odor at all, so not sure why it was that way, but not a great first impression. It's right off of a very busy street and if traffic noise is not your thing at all, it could be frustrating. We didn't mind though. We're city, and it was never too loud. We could hear the TV and each other great. Just a heads up it's a busy neighborhood. Complimentary guest wifi, was a little slow. I wanted to buy the proprietor a new router, but it could just be the ISP. It worked fine though. Accessibility is just "ok" overall, but a B+ compared to the rest of NZ. They gave us a nice accessible room with disabled parking right in front. Unfortunately, one of the nights, some grade "A" ***hole without a disabled parking permit parked there all night. We never saw him before he left, but I wish I had. I'm disabled, but my wife would have surely kicked his ass. However, the proprietor was incredibly thoughtful and put out a construction cone the rest of the time we stayed, to reserve that spot for us. Very nice of him and indicative of their thoughtfulness our whole stay. The shower floor is an ice rink and very dangerous when it's wet. We had to lay out towels for me to walk on safely (they did provide all of those extra towels np.) I never understand why places don't put textured floor tiles in showers for disabled guests. One of the great mysteries of the world.

The couple that runs the Riccarton Motor lodge are great folks! They really try to make your stay as pleasant as possible and Maureen helped my wife a lot. They alone, are a great reason to stay here. The room was kind of compact, but had great amenities like a nice kitchenette with fridge and a microwave. They have laundry facilities available, which is great. The bed was quite comfortable, but took up the bulk of the space for sure and left little room for my walker. It is located in a busy, suburban area with easy access to restaurants and other resources and is a very short drive to just about anywhere in the city. Close enough to access downtown easily for sure. It's not flashy but the place was very clean and a good budget stay. I would say we got great bang for the buck there. We stayed several days and would stay again for sure.
