How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

It was great for me travelling solo, but probably wouldn’t be as good for groups/families as the shower and toilet have frosted glass instead of doors to separate them from the room.
Great location, very easy to catch the airport bus and close to good food/shopping options.

No window in the room and room on the lift shaft, made for a noisy stay.
Good hotel downtown, centrally located. The rooms were clean and very comfortable. However not having a window and the room being on the back of the lift shaft, were downsides. I’ll make sure I check the room description next time. Great place to stay for a night!

The gym facilities could you some attention, and reservation should be more clear what the name of the hotel is.

The fact that I checked into my room and the electrician maintenance person was in my room and was lying on the bed and then knocked and came back again as he left his light bulbs. Quite disappointed in this, very unprofessional and would prefer no random to be laying on a bed I paid for the night

The gym had the basic necessities, but I wish the equipment was facing the door. I had to consistently turn around to make sure i didn’t miss someone walking in. This is the Oaks Wellington Hotel which wasn’t clearly communicated in the booking process.
The location was great and the pillows were huge and fluffy. The room was clean and the check in/check out process was efficient.

Lady worker was a little judgemental, however, she did look exhausted.
Awesome place, even without windows. The staff on Day 1 were friendly. Room always exceeded our expectations when it came to basic maintenance.

Not keen on shower/toilet modesty glass, it was just as well the person who was going to stay with me was unable to come. Felt like showering in a goldfish bowl.The door to bathroom/toilet doesnt fully close so if you were on the toilet and someone was using kitchenette you could be seen. Didn't get clean mugs/glasses for my second day (they replaced bathroom towels but left me dirty mugs in the coffee/tea corner, with no clean ones provided).
Location was great as going to show at St James. Very convenient to airport express bus service. Nice and quiet - well sound proofed. Comfortable bed. Great restaurant on site, though priced for special evening out. Would be great if it offered hotel guests a discount to encourage eating there more than once.

Bathroom door didn't fully close. Fridge was slightly small for big bottles of water as they kept falling out. No bag benches for your suitcases to sit on, only the floor space.
Good size bed. Air conditioning! And daily servicing of the room.

When I arrived, I was told that my reservation had been cancelled. The bed was two singles pushed together.
The location was ideal for buses to anywhere in the city. Upon arrival, the problem (a false cancellation) was quickly resolved. Lots of food outlets nearby.

The bathroom door wouldnt stay shut which is not ideal when you are sharing with a friend. I know they were short staffed but an offer of clean towels and emptying the bin would have been appreciated.
They were very helpful and accomodating. I asked for 2 rooms beside each other and to make them up into 2 singles and both were fulfilled. The rooms were very clean and the location was Excellent.

The size of the room was quite small.
The location and access to great eating places. Proximity to WOW and waterfront was excellent. The shopping area was also only a 10 min walk.
