How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Staff next to elevator on entry was not kind. Just fobbed me off to go to other counter. Aircon filter needs cleaning.

Nothing....This hotel was in a perfect location for us to continue our travels out to the Wairapa by train. We were only a few short steps from the train station and the Bluebridge Ferry which we took at a different date to get to the South Island.
We were welcomed warmly by Sumit (sp?). He was very helpful with getting us oriented to where we were in Wellington, and let us know that we could ask him for information at any time. He was wonderful !

The beds are not very comfortable. If you are tall, you can't straighten your legs.
Rydges is in an excellent location in the city, close to the stadium and the harbour. The swimming pool, gym and sauna were lovely. We loved having a good restaurant downstairs for dinner.

The shower head of our room for our shower was broken and the water was not the right pressure.
We loved the cleanliness of the room, lots of space and all amenities available. The beds were very comfortable. Also appreciated the great service and the smiles of the receptionist.

Parking options were poor. No house keeping after 5. We had to vaccum the room by ourselves. Lack of some toiletries.
The location was great, Absolutely stunning.right in the middle of city. Walking distance to most places.

The opaque panel between the bathroom and the bedroom meant switching bathroom light on at night woke partner - could be helped by a night light. The breakfast was very disorganised, had to enquire as to price of buffet - very expensive compared to alacarte options. Ordered coffee but was forgotten, had to remind. Tables wiped by pushing food debris onto floor, same cloth used on multiple tables with no rinsing between, and one staff member did not use any sprays on tables at all.
The view was great. Having kitchenware was a great bonus.

Beds extremely soft. Floor in room not vacuumed and not the cleanest.

Room was not very clean, big mirror had greasy food hand prints all over it and bathroom door had what looked food/child’s boogies on it, was filthy that we had to clean it.

Our room didn’t get cleaned for the three days we were there. We were normal back in our room by 3-5 and never got cleaned. We did get $20 off for this but I think I would of like the room clean
The pool was great. It did get very loud on the long weekend as so many kids were there. But having a pool in the city in winter was amazing. Breakfast buffet was fantastic too. So many options.

The only thing I don't like is the floor in the bathroom is slippery when wet.
Location was great. The staff are lovely and professional. Every detail is thought of, including body pillows on the bed. The restaurant food is phenomenal and kids meals are quality and free. The breakfast is top notch and again, kids eat free. The pool is a huge hit with our family and a main reason we only stay at Rydges when visiting Wellington.

Just mix up with the cleaning of the room rubbish not taken out after the room was refreshed pillow cases where left on the chairs looked like they either left in a hurry or forgot.... apart from that minor mishap the stay was awesome....
Love the service from staff both at check-in and the front of house staff were amazing. Especially with my younger 3 year old son. Reception staff were so helpful with the check-in as well as parking situations. The breakfast buffet was on point every morning highly recommend. Ideal location close to everything and easy to access. Room was lovely and would probably book a bigger one next time but definitely value for money. Kids loved the fact that there was a bath and enjoyed that more than the adults. Pool was also available and definitely a plus from us. Family friendly and definitely will be coming back.

Booking.com said parking was free, but we had to pay $26 at a nearby parking garage. We asked for on site parking on February 24th, nearly two months ago. We even arrived early that day but no parking was available. Very disappointing.
