How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Great location, great price, great amenities. Loved that hand wash, lotion, body wash, shampoo & conditioner were provided. Loved the ability to chrome cast from our phones. Was clean & tidy. The usb inputs in the sockets are super handy. Staff were lovely and so helpful and welcoming.

Confusing lights. Automatic check in was on different credit card so didn't have details, then had to go to actual check in.
Location. Cool. Comfy bed. Room size good. Didn't eat or drink there but nice looking restaurant downstairs. Easy to find room. Close to civic carpark but have valet avail. Close to takeaway stores. Close to dairy/convenience store (though drink fridge not cold).

Couldn’t get the streaming to work on the tv.
The location was excellent for our needs. Room was comfortable and clean. Staff were friendly. Everything was there that we needed.

We could not pay with a debit card as the machine would not take it. Often had to wait until the afternoon for housekeeping.
For its location on Queens street it was very quiet. Nice food although a fixed price breakfast was not available. Staff very helpful. We enjoyed our stay and would return.

The check-in process seems like a waste of time. You have to do a self check-in while staff stand by and watch. They can do the check-in process faster themselves.
The room was spacious and very comfortable. We also found the hotel quiet, considering it is located in a busy area. The restaurants and stores are close by so walking is easy. We really appreciated the helpfulness of the staff.

I think when you come with a bit of luggage it would be nice if one of the staff members helped you with the trolley, the footpath outside is on quite an angle and I found if hard to load my luggage and not have the trolley run into my car. It may also be an idea to get them to help you with the trolley up to your room. The T.V should be on an arm where you can watch T.V from the bed (just a thought) Maybe for new guests, ask if they know how to work the elevators? (I am from out of town and do not stay in hotels much at all - so was a little stuck on that) Also maybe have access to a pedestal fan (for the people who get extra hot)
I liked my view - the room and the floor (i did ask to get on the side with views of the Auckland town hall) and this was obliged. The bed was comfy - the cleaners did a great job servicing the room, The little clock radio was brilliant - great sound.

The fact that i had to walk in the rain, but that’s not the property’s fault.
Wonderful accomodation, beautifully set up, if you like hotels with great decor this is the place to stay! from the minute you arrive it’s beautiful 🤩 the staff are amazing and go above and beyond to accommodate you!

We were advised our car would be available at 9:40 the day of checkout however we had to wait 45 minutes for them to collect my car which pushed a whole day back.
Loved how clean and comfortable everything felt. Lovely staff and the vehicle valet was an awesome touch as auckland parking is shocking!
