How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

We love Rusty the friendly cuddly lab. We enjoyed the breakfast things… we didn’t expect that. Far enough away from the road to be peaceful and lovely rural outlook.

It was a short distance out of Pukekohe but an acceptable distance.
It was a very peaceful place with great views of the surrounding countryside. A very hospitable place.

The only thing that I could complain about is the wifi, you had to stand in the carport to get any signal. Everything else was amazing.
Great rural location and the views were incredible. The hosts were exceptional welcoming and very friendly. Good set up and facilities avaliable.

Most beautiful location, very clean, well stocked and equipped. The fresh produce when we arrived was a lovely touch and much appreciated not to mention Rusty the chocolate lab who came to greet us every day. Big thanks to Lyn and Keith our hosts. The folder with local info was also very much appreciated.

The owner was so kind and friendly. There were special treats left which was so appreciated (eggs milk, butter, coffee, apples from the trees). A spacious property with all facilities available. dog, chickens, cows are very cute, you can pet them. thanks a lot for our stay. we enjoyed and highly recommend.

the internet signal inside the accommodation is not very strong.
this is a quiet location with beautiful views, very well equipped accommodation and the owners are generous with home produce.

Lynn was very welcoming, as was Rusty the dog. The great breakfast supplies were unexpected and appreciated. Very spacious and comfortable unit. Lovely relaxed location.

The bed was a little too soft for my comfort.
We thoroughly enjoyed the property and the space that was available for us. Travelling with a toddler, it was perfect that the bedroom was seperate from the living area so we could enjoy our evening and morning while the little one was sleeping. Rusty is the perfect edition and both myself and our little girl enjoyed the morning visits. The property is functional and has everything you need. The offer of breakfast items was a nice touch and greatly appreciated.

We couldn't really connect to the WiFi, but for one night that was okay.
Comfortable, clean, and spacious. Rusty the dog is so sweet and friendly! Location is a bit out of the way, but it's so beautiful and was a good stopping point before driving the rental car back to Auckland airport.

The wi-fi was non-existent. The modem is located in the owner's property and the distance to the apartment was too great to connect properly. Some of our devices could not even detect it. The additional room has no toilet or shower facilities. So, our teenage boy needed to come into the main apartment for toilet and showers. There are no connecting doors so at night he needed to go out of his room, walk along a well-lit path, bring his keys to open the main apartment to do his business. This was not a problem for us because of his age, but it would not suit a family with young children.
The accommodation was very spacious. There was an apartment with one bedroom and a separate room for our teenager. It was located on a well-maintained farm in a very pleasant setting. The air-con worked very well. The host provided us with all we needed and some bonus things like eggs, milk, bread, butter, apples, ice-creams. The kitchen is very well equipped and we were able to cook breakfast and dinner. We were able to do our laundry. There were two toilets which was handy. The surroundings were very quiet which added to the serenity of the experience, it was a great place to unwind.

No aircon in 2nd space, which would normally be fine but it was exceptionally hot weather.
Home away from home, everything we needed and more. Loved the extras.
