Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IndiaThe room did not have windows, and the walls were made of plywood or some other material which was not soundproof.
The location was good. We arrived in the CBD by train from the airport, and the hotel is not too far from the main station- Britomart. We then left for Wellington on the Northern Scenic Train, which starts from the Strand station, which is also not too far from the hotel. There are lot of restaurants around.

Ideal for what we needed it for, quick night stay before early airport flight. Good communication. Didn’t use any facilities but looked all working and in good condition

New ZealandTowels were smelly and small. Ventilation fan was very noisy in room. Not enough shelves to store gear on....needed to leave clothing on the floor.
Within walking distance to Spark Arena. Secure facilities. Privacy within a hostel environment. Great shower. Nice bedding. Warm and dry.

New ZealandI only didn’t like having to share a bathroom but never ended up seeing anyone else so wasn’t busy enough to have a line waiting outside. There is a shower in the room which is very convenient.
I enjoyed staying at Sky World. Was very convenient for me staying 1 night and the rooms were up to standards for value of the place. The staff were very lovely and was able to work around check in/check out times.

Was cheap for what it was

New ZealandThe rooms need more ventilation and the ability to cool down. The shower should at least have a shower dome or an extract that works as it leaves the room very moist.

New ZealandThere is no window in room #3, and the fan for the room doesn't work very well. Sadly my son has asthma, and the heat was too much for him to handle. So I ended up having to book into another hotel with air conditioning. A better fan or air conditioning would be great.

GermanyOnly letdown - the rooms are not soundproof. You hear the people staying with you. Don't get the suite next to the toilet.
Central stay, own shower in the rooms and really nice beds. Good place to spend a few nights, in comparison to other hostels in the same pricerange nearby it is way better. So much cleaner and safer. As it was mentioned in another rating, that they felt unsafe - if everyone staying with you meanwhile you're there realizes, how to use the lock of the front door properly, then there won't be any security problems at all. Communication with the host worked well. Would definitely get here again instead of staying at one of the other hostels near the center.

United KingdomIt is not possible to store luggage safely after checkout, but you can stay in the common lounge area with your luggage if necessary.
Nice private rooms in the centre of Auckland that are good value for money. They are just starting out so are still improving, but very open to feedback :) The room had its own shower while sinks and toilets are shared with other rooms. This is fine as there are only a few rooms and two separate toilet with sink facilities, so we never had to wait for other guests.

United StatesMy room was comfortable enough and I felt secure in the building. There was a shower in the room and 2 shared bathrooms nearby. There was a kitchen with sink, fridge and microwave…but no utensils or plates or pans. A good value for a secure place from which to explore Auckland!

GermanyThe walls were very thin, we could hear most louder conversations and videos the people in the neighbouring rooms had or watched. The kitchen doesnt have a stove only a microwave and a kettle. There are no rooms with windows. The rooms also get pretty cold because of the air conditioning. The bathroom is very small and also slightly dirty.
The rooms are very clean and the bed is comfortable. There is a shower in the room directly next to the bed which is great for privacy while showering, there is no leaking from the shower into the room and a small step infront of the shower to stand on when drying off. In addition to the bed there is a clothes hanger and a small cabinett as well as towels. The air conditioning works great so showering in a room with no windows is no problem. There are washing machines and dryers available and a convenience store right nextdoor. The owner is very nice and accomodating. The hostel seems to be accessible for wheelchair users, with a ramp and a big bathroom. The location of the hostel is great with lots of stores in walking distance.
