Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

New ZealandThe lighting around the pathways could be better as It was difficult to walk back and forth from the kitchen/bathroom area in the dark.

Location was quaint as was The Hobbit Cabin but warm & cosey. Conveniences were as advised, remote from the unit but certainly adequate

United KingdomIt rained sadly.
We were delighted to stay at Starry nights in the Hobbit. All of the facilities such a shower toilet kitchen etc were ' en plein air' which we expected..and throughly enjoyed. The location is excellent being just a short drive into Waihi. Sadly the weather did not allow us to appreciate the garden at its best, for we booked during three days of almost wall to wall rain but nevertheless we really enjoyed our stay. Once you realise that the accommodation is but 10 sq m in total you simply adjust. the bed however was a real dream and gave us that back to nature experience we were looking for. Not sure if the phrase glumping or glamping fits the bill here but for two or three days it is ideal really at Starry Nights. Sit on the verandah and watch the evening sky become so dark you can almost touch the blackness of the heavens.

United KingdomJust be mindful when walking on the steps as they can be very slippery after rain.
The host was out when we arrived, but she left a lovely handwritten letter for us with instructions and we found everything all good! If you are looking for something cozy, look no further. The view is great and you will definitely see some stars during the night.

New ZealandShared facilities like toilet, kitchen and shower could be better. Also only 1 toilet/shower we are not sure how good it could be with more people hosted. It was only us and another couple on that weekend. Kitchen fridge is too small and everything looks a bit old honestly. We believe with a bit of effort it could look much better.
The place is very beautiful. Lots of trees around, beautiful garden areas and unique cabins designed. The bed was super comfortable and the place was very warm and cozy. Peaceful and quite location just interrupted by the birds. We loved the views trough our rounded windows. =)

Australiathere were only 2 mugs in the kitchen for 3 rooms to use, the paths were a little bit overgrown so it was hard trying to navigate our way through with suitcases (it had been raining too so we got soaked)
how unique and quirky the rooms were, the outdoor shower was lovely, the gardens were stunning, bed was super comfy, the serenity

CanadaI thought our room was a little cluttered. There was minimal room for our stuff, but that’s probably because we had too much.
Our host was so lovely. She was very welcoming to us all and allowed us to use her kitchen. The surroundings were quirky with cute sculptures in the garden.

New ZealandAll small fridges seem to be noisy in the room. Lock box a bit tricky to get into Bed was a bit high, defiantly not built for Hobbits to use. Lock on the toilet door was tricky to lock Other than that very happy with the place.
The room was delightful, with views for the countryside and quiet. Glad we had the Hobbit room, as it was further away from the toilet, shower, kitchen and water pump. I had not expected a small fridge, with tea and coffee making facilities including milk, so very happy We did not use the shower, but soap and shampoo were provided

New Zealandno negatives at all!
Beautiful spot, out of the main town and tucked away so lovely and quiet! The hobbit cabin was gorgeous and very cosy. The host was so friendly and checked in if we needed anything else. Bathroom and shower were outside but very well kept. With a clear night there is an amazing view of the stars as well. Highly recommend staying here!
