How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

We stayed on a Tuesday and Wednesday night - Tuesday was quiet but we could hear music from a nearby bar until 1am on Wednesday. The hotel provides ear plugs but they didn't work so we had to use noise-cancelling headphones instead.
Spacious and comfortable room with a well-equipped kitchenette. Short walk to restaurants and bars. Check-in and check-out were easy despite there being no staff on site.

Very comfortable and spacious accommodation. The location was great and close to the heart of restaurants and bars. Seamless check in and check out The room we had was ideal for a family or two couples travelling.

Pillow had a clear blood spot on it once the slip was removed. Hopefully the pillow will be changed. YUCK.
Comfortable, modern unit. Location was central to entertainment and public transport from the airport.

Nothing about it not to like. It was out first stay and we'll be staying again so hopefully we'll feel the same.
Modern styling, nice layout, just felt very comfortable. The location is pretty good. Close to everything.

Excellent location! Which also means you're in the CBD and it's sometimes loud at night. The windows are double glazed but there was a live band next door one night so it was a bit loud but every other night was fine.
Fantastic, modern hotel. Excellent experience here and would stay again. Everything was new and comfortable with some personal touches that made our stay perfect.

Only minor issue was the lovely old bathroom door in my room wouldn't stay closed. Not a problem for me though as I was staying alone. I loved the bathroom mirror lighting idea, but the lights didn't illuminate the mirror itself due to their placement behind it, so the bathroom was a bit dark for makeup. Apparently they are in the process of improving the lighting situation though so great that they've heard the feedback. The massive mirror in the room had great natural light for makeup in the meantime!
Lovely hotel, beautiful use of an old building in a perfect location. Appreciated the little things - welcoming snacks, kitchenware and even two different options for my bedtime sleepytea! Bed super comfy, shower amazing. Yes some noise at night but you get that with the location! The windows are noise attenuated and they provide earplugs if you're noise sensitive - I am and still slept well. The check-in process was flawless and it was incredibly easy to get in touch when I had a question. I'll definitely be staying here again next time I'm in Wellington.

More light available on the mirror, as the room and bathroom are dark colours.
Just an overnight stay in Wellington, but this place in a small historic alley is centrally located and easy to get around on foot or by Uber. Lovely room, really like the dark bold colours. Good room size, and great use of space. Comfortable bed, delicious linen and lovely shower. The welcome pack was appreciated, and easy instructions to access the building and room...no reception area, but this wasn't needed as had contact details if there was a problem...which there wasn't. Would definitely stay again.

The bathroom was a little tired and the hot water was a little patchy. They must have cylinder and with the other apartment on the same floor plus four of us it meant a couple of pretty like warm/cold showers.
We stayed in the Library and it was well kitted out with everything you need. Super comfortable beds. Excellent location and we enjoyed discovering a couple of laneways we had never been to.

Coffee Bags are now really good, and are made of real coffee. It would be good to have coffee bags rather than instant.
Minimum fuss, virtual concierge - the last thing I want to do after a long flight is to pull out ID and stuff. Being able to go straight to my room was brilliant.
