Noisy at night and cold. Terrible WiFi.

It was a bit muddy bringing in bags as it had been raining but a load of gravel would fix that!!

It was totally unexpected in a rather dubious area but we were delighted!!! So quiet and gorgeous outlook!!!!

Bed was too hard. Finding how to access the unit wasn’t so easy as no one on site. Found a phone number to ring on side entrance of old hotel and was then sent a txt with code to unlock key pad.

Nice new cabin unit. Great pressure in the shower. Convenient for our one night stay.

It is a hidden gem. The stand alone Studios at the back of the property are exceptional and look over the Wairoa River. Comfortable bed, quality crisp linen, kitchenette has everything, modern bathroom with excellent pressure in shower.

Location was in a slightly rundown part of town. Also no bottle opener. Could have used more plates, cups and glasses.

Exceptional rooms. Comfortable bed. Great comms from friendly hosts. Wairoa has really suffered following the weather events of 2023, The Ferry Hotel is a shining example of resilience and thinking outside the box. The result is some of the most impressive (and surprising) accommodation I have stayed at. The standalone units are beautiful, spacious and have all the modern conveniences.

The bed was good but a little firm for me. I was sent wrong entry code for key box so was a little difficult sorting that out. Units are new so some groundwork outside needs to be finished

If I was being really picky as the place was immaculate there was no hair dryer or place to hang clothes. There was only one comfy chair so we watched TV on the bed. WiFi kept cutting out so we gave up watching TV as it kept buffering.

It was brand new. It felt like we were the first to use it. We didn’t meet the staff. All conversation was remote via text. Tests were very friendly and responded were immediate

The bed was a bit uncomfortable for my personal preference. Had trouble adjusting the tv volume in the evening to turn it down. The proximity of the 3 cabins are close to each other and the cars are parked on the same side as the bed. So if your neighbour is an early riser/late traveller - just know that the external noise can seem loud.

The studio cabin was very clean and access to the key was simple. We were heading to Lake Waikaremoana the next morning for a waka ama event, so an overnight stay in Wairoa was a great way to break up the trip. We had a waka attached to the roof of our ute, but parking outside the cabin was roomy and easy to move in and out from.
