    The nicest hostel in NZ!

    Nothing!

The whole place was gorgeous! By far the nicest hostel I stayed in while travelling in NZ. The rooms are large and you’ve got plenty of space in your own storage draws to fit an entire large backpack and more. The privacy curtains, individual lamps and plug sockets for each bed are so useful. The beds don’t creak at all as they are built into the wall so even if you have someone sleeping above you there is no noise. The bathrooms are nicer than my own at home and the same can be said for the gorgeous kitchen! I accidentally left a tshirt of mine at the hostel and they have even posted it back to my home address in the UK totally free of charge! They are just the best.

It’s not convenient with the suitcase as they have no elevator.

Almost everything. The location is easy to access almost everywhere you need, heaps of restaurants, supermarkets and museums. Staffs were nice and friendly. Bed was super comfy. Bathrooms were always clean.

You can really feel the positive vibes inside the hostel. The people, the staff are welcoming. The morning coffees are on par with Welly cafe. Love the vintage building too And check out their events, super fun if you had nothing planned.

I thought there should be more places to put used towels, and more shower floor wipers to clean the shower after use. And I think the beds should have their linen changed every few days so the guests don't sleep in them for too long.

Belu was great! Very accommodating and helpful, even on the day I was to check out, she let me have a towel so I could shower before my flight. And the facilities and decor made it feel a lot more premium than the price.

Hand towels in the bathrooms. I would have preferred to see paper towels instead (more hygienic) if air dryers aren't an option due to noise concerns.

Property seems purpose-built with well thought-out layout. Dorms have everything you may need. Great showers, and overall facilities. Multiple spaces to hang out in. Staff were on top of cleanliness.

No lift, not a big deal but may impact some

This is one of the best hostels I have stayed in! The building itself is really cool, i really liked the exposed steel frames inside the hostel and the tiling throughout the bathrooms. I stayed in the 6 bed female dorm on the top floor which was in the roof so had really high ceilings. Appreciated the curtains on the beds, individual sockets in the beds and deep storage drawer. The hostel itself has a nice vibe, not a party hostel but still lots of activities to get Involved with like daily free yoga sessions and the free pancakes at the weekend! There are also a few Lounge areas in the hostel with comfy sofas, games and books so never short of areas to hang out.

The Marion Hostel offers an exceptional experience. The hostel's interior design is both beautiful and sophisticated, elevating the overall experience well-lit common areas and rooms. Located steps away from Cuba Street and at the heart of Wellington, its location is unbeatable. Remarkably clean, it stands out with immaculate bathrooms and common spaces. Beds are comfortable, clean, equipped with USB outlets, and ample lighting. Reliable Wi-Fi spans the entire building. The hostel fosters a diverse and pleasant atmosphere. Lucas and the staff are delightful, and always eager to assist. Despite a minor hiccup during check-in with the Booking app notifications, the issue was promptly resolved by the hostel staff. I'll return whenever I'm in Wellington.

Perhaps the fact that there wasn't any special activity for a meet and greet with fellow travelers at the hostel, such as a pub quiz or something similar, was a disappointment. However, I believe I was too tired at that point for any socializing. I'm now contemplating that if I had stayed there longer, perhaps I would have appreciated more entertainment as a solo traveler.

The attention to detail is simply enchanting. From the sleek self-check-in process to the adorable room cards and bed signs, every element exudes a sense of charm and thoughtfulness. The dormitory itself is a haven of comfort, with plush beds that promise a restful night's sleep. Impeccable cleanliness pervades every corner, ensuring a hygienic and inviting atmosphere. Yet it's the showers and toilets that truly steal the show, elevating the mundane into a realm of pure artistry. Each facility is a testament to thoughtful design and functionality, offering both practicality and aesthetic appeal in equal measure. Nestled in the heart of Wellington, The Marion Hostel is a delightful gem that seamlessly blends history with urban flair. Set within a charming old historical building, this hostel has been lovingly renovated to exude contemporary chic at every turn. Stepping inside feels akin to wandering through the halls of a modern art gallery, with each corner offering a new visual delight. It's evident that a skilled architecture team was behind the transformation of The Marion Hostel, as every aspect of the space feels carefully curated and one-of-a-kind. And to top it all off, the hostel's prime location in the city center makes it the perfect base for exploring all that Wellington has to offer.

The hostel is located really nicely in a vibrant and diverse area of the city, with many nice places and sights within walking distance. The equipment and the facilities are great - my favourite is the rooftop terrace. And the staff are really friendly, and if you need tips for what to do, where to go and how to get about, they know just the right thing for you.
