Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Everything. I cannot fault this place. The staff are friendly and willing and warm, the kitchen is well equipped, spacious and clean, the bathrooms look like they’re from a bouji hotel, and the bunk beds are rock solid - none of that bed-swaying/metal clanking when people move in and out of them like usually happens in hostels. The added extras (filter coffee, pancakes at the weekend, yoga, creative classes) just help cement the hostel’s approach of wanting to do things differently/different standard. I don’t like spending lots of money on accommodation but this was SO worth it.

AustraliaThe location of the hostel was fantastic, I could walk to almost anywhere in Wellington. The place was clean, good facilities (plenty of bathrooms to go around between all the people staying). I liked that the dorms although shared could only be accessed by others in the same dorm.

NetherlandsOnly point of improvement was that the top bed in my room (probably not all rooms) had nothing to prevent the light from coming in from the top (only curtains on the sides). The ceilings were really high and had windows, so you would be woken up by the light once the sun got up.
Lovely hostel, had everything you might need or want!

GermanyThere was not much to dislike, but shelfs in all of the showers would be great.
The bed was big and I was lucky, as the wall had a metal beam, which I could use as shelf. Otherwise it would have been a bit crowded. Definitely one of the best hostels I visited and all the rooms were clean, and the kitchen really invited to cook and chat. The hostel is perfect for those looking for a hostel experience, but are willing to pay the little extra to have a fully functioning setup, style and comfort. Each floor has a common room with TV and the atmosphere invites people to chat with each other. To get pancakes for breakfast was also very nice.

United StatesThere needs to be more hooks in the bathroom stalls—both for the toilets and showers. More space on the bathroom counters too to prevent toiletry bags from getting wet, maybe some shelves installed would help. Also when I packed up my bag to go and got up from the floor, there was dust all over my pants. Though the hostel is generally very clean maybe some more sweeping in the rooms would be good. Also, watch your head on the bottom bunks! The top of the bed is a little low and I hit my head a few times.
This is maybe the best hostel I’ve ever stayed in. The hostel itself is beautiful. Very cool and modern sink fixtures in bathrooms, pretty wallpaper, nice furniture. The kitchen is pretty big and allows for a lot of seating, also more seating in the lounge area and by the laundry was great. It was extremely clean, and the pods were nice and private. Good labeling system for food in kitchen. Kitchen also had a lot of amenities, not only tea and coffee but olive oil, great cooking utensils, etc. Everyone who stayed there was friendly and respectful. They have cool free offerings like yoga classes and pancake breakfasts. The hostel has great vibes all around. It’s also in the best area, right by Cuba St which is the coolest part of Wellington.

This was by far the best hostel I've ever stayed in. Can't believe it's a hostel...facilities felt like a high end hotel. Staff went above and beyond to make you feel welcome, even in a country where that might not always be the case with people in hospitality.

United KingdomBit above my usual budget but well worth it.
The best hostel I've used in NZ. Great staff. Lovely spaces and kitchen. Free drinks. Very close to cool shopping area/barbers/supermarket and lots of great food/coffee outlets. Only 5 mins walk from the harbourside and a sea swim. I parked my bike in the hostel and if you need any spares/repairs, there's an absolutely superb bike shop (Bicycle Junction) only 50m away. Comfy lounges on each floor with subscription TV. Lots of lively showers, toilets and washing machines. All super clean. Beds are proper enclosed wooden bunks with privacy curtain/socket/USB/light.
