Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThough the location was great when getting off the ferry it was a bit of a walk to town center - not a big deal but not a comfortable part of town to be walking through alone as a solo female traveler.
This was a great “backpackers” hotel with individual rooms and shared bath. It was clean and well appointed. It had a relaxing hot tub as well as ping pong, game room etc - a great place for families. The kitchen was set up to encourage interaction among guest and provided plenty of space and refrigerators for your own food. There were lots of options for seating so people could be alone if they wanted. The owners were great in communicating ahead of time, and kindly provided a ride to the city center to catch my boat ride in the morning. The fresh scones in the morning were a treat.

CanadaA warm, welcoming and very well managed property! The clean kitchen is super equipped to prepare meals, keep things cold, and you can then sit on a sunny terrace surrounded by greenery to eat and meet people from all over the world. A real plus is that the property is located within walking distance of Picton and the ferry and Marlborough Sound transfer boats. Gary is always available to assit and make friendly recommendations.

United StatesThe room was small so there are only a few hooks to store clothes.
This motel/lodge is a little way from the train and ferry station. It is run by a super-friendly and helpful couple who make fresh scones for breakfast. Additionally, they will pick you up from the terminal or train station if you make arrangements with them. Our room was comfortable and had a great view of the Harbor. There is a clean, well-supplied kitchen and at least four comfortable communal rooms. Also tables and chairs to sit or eat outside. The price is very reasonable too. They are storing our luggage while we go on a five day hike.

United KingdomThere was nothing about the motel that I did not like. There is a bit of noise from the ferry port and there is a 20 minute walk to the town.
I like the location, close to the ferry. The room was a reasonable size and had a balcony with chairs. Our room had it's own private bathroom. Downstairs was a large dining area and fully equipped kitchen. There was 2 lounges, games room, gym,hot tub, garden. Homemade Scones and toast were available for breakfast. I would definitely recommend this motel.

United KingdomIt's a budget backpackers motel so don't travel with as much luggage as we did.
The location next to the Bluebridge ferry terminal was ideal. Gary was the perfect host. He booked a boat and hiking trip and a wine tour for us which were great. His restaurant recommendations suited us. There's a very relaxed vibe about the place and the freshly baked scones are worth getting up early for. I like to think we left as friends and would highly recommended it.

United StatesRoad closures made it a very long trek from the ferry with our luggage. A message regarding such would have been nice. An offer of a free shuttle, which is available and really needed at this time in a message prior to arrival would have saved us a punishing night time trek through the village dragging suitcases. Normally the route is a reasonable walk but not now.
Convivial atmosphere in the evening.
