How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Perfect spot to get away. The view was jaw-droppingly stunning. Room was new, well appointed. Lots of little extras which made the experience special. Great communication with the hosts.

This is a beautiful place which was presented in the most fabulous way. Clean, comfortable, luxurious & a wonderful view over the Tasman sea. Lots of lovely touches like several different teas, coffee & hot chocolate, delicious muesli, a barbecue & outside seating to enjoy the sunset with a glass of wine. The bathroom is luxurious & the whole package just wonderful. Highly recommend & wish we could have stayed longer.

Amazing accommodation. We have travelled around the South Island for the last two weeks in seven different apartments and this property is by far the best. The attention to detail, from the large fluffy towels, beautiful bedding, three types of breakfast cereal and quality coffee was outstanding. The location was quiet and the uninterrupted view of the Tasman was so beautiful. We felt like we were in a five star hotel.

There was an outstanding view over the ocean from the unit. It was modern, complete, spacious, comfortable beds, chairs, outdoor furniture. It opened to a small deck and a grassy area. Great sunrise. Convenient to Greymouth. Friendly host. We really liked our stay.

The location was out of town and not close to other ammenities/ shops or restaurants etc. This though was not a negative for us , as the location of the property enhanced the overall experience .
Apartment was very tastefully presented. Quality of inclusions , eg linen sheets. Kitchen spotless and lots of extra inclusions eg. Coffee machine. Venue from back deck amazing. Lovely place to recharge.

The studio was perfect and fully met our needs.
Lovely studio accommodation attached to the owners home with stunning views over the Tasman Sea from its own patio. Anthea and Wayne are excellent hosts, who go over and above to ensure every aspect for an enjoyable stay is assured. The studio is extremely well equipped and very clean. The Super King bed is very comfortable, ensuring an excellent night’s sleep. The centre of Greymouth is a 10 minute drive and offers numerous dining opportunities, as well as, a sizeable grocery and liquor store for those wanting to make full use of the studio’s patio and dine-in.

Views over Tasman is a beautifully presented and maintained property. The decor is lovely and practical. The bed and beautiful linen sheets were super comfortable. Lots of nice extra touches to make your stay very comfortable and enjoyable. Great selection of teas, Nespresso machine and plunger coffee. Sitting out and watching the sunset over the Tasman was brilliant. Anthea is a lovely, friendly host who was very helpful and responsive. Very highly recommend this lovely place.

Our stay was absolutely perfect. Who wouldn’t love the amazing view from your bedroom of the Tasman waters. The unit was superb in every way. The breakfast was lovely the facilities were wonderful, we were able to use the washing machine and dryer and our hosts were warm and friendly.
