The views on this alpaca farm are magnificent. Joanne and Neil are an absolutely wonderful couple who have created a very comfy and private space from which to enjoy the scenery. The accomodations are modern modular units that were spotlessly clean. If this were a fancy resort, I'd give it a 10, but pay far more. It was perfect for anyone who appreciates outdoor beauty, animals, great comfort and outstanding value. Joanne and Neil were very giving of their time as we asked a lot of questions about their alpacas, goats, and off-grid living. Fantastic!

Cleverly designed and built so that visitors can wake and see - from their beds - beautiful views all around, including the nearby field of alpacas! All the facilities are stylish and high spec, and everything is pristine clean. If you’re able to get up around 7.30/8am, you can help Neil feed the family’s alpacas and goats. And there are fantail birds filling the pine trees by the room pods, and fully grown (and still alive) kauri trees on the farm; it’s very special here.

We were disappointed we couldn’t enjoy the scenery and things this place has to offer due to the wet weather.

The location was great, the place was immaculately clean, the owners are lovely and super helpful. We got to experience the morning ritual of alpaca, goat, and fish feeding and also Neil’s care toward his animals.

We wish we has stayed longer and can’t wait to get back

We had the most wonderful time at the cabin, Neil and Joanne are the best hosts you could ever wish for. We arrived late at night and the cabin was easy to locate and the electric blanket was left on for us to snuggle into bed. The starry sky was unforgettable and the cabin nice and cosy. In the morning we woke up to a blissful silence and the site of a herd of alpacas curiously looking towards the cabin as we had a cup of coffee on the decking taking in the beautiful views of the valley. Neil introduced us to the alpacas and the goats and we had the most incredible time feeding them and petting them. The cabin makes the perfect weekend escape from Akl with its perfect location whilst being off the grid and immersed in the bush, we still had full reception and the cabin had everything we needed + supermarket open till 9pm less than 10mins drive

The double bed was a little bit hard for us but each to his own 😊

Loved the fact that the whole unit was suitable for my wheelchair bound husband. The view was incredible. The Alpacas were adorable and very tolerant. And the owner was super friendly and kind.

There wasn't much we didn't like - we will be back to stay again!

The view from the cabin was exceptional. There was coffee and tea available in the room which was great. The owners offer additional activities on the site like meeting the alpacas and goats on their farm if you are interested. They are also very friendly and happy to give advice on what to see in the area as well as where to grab some great food.

The Waihi Gold Alpacas owners were very welcoming and easy to talk to, the cabin was very clean and bathroom very spacious, we stayed one night and had a tour of the alpaccas and goats in the morning. We even got to feed them, (such a highlight). Waking up was so peaceful we had rolling fog that dissappeared slowly.

The bathroom is just reachable when you go out of your cabin. A coathanger in the room would help a bit and maybe a little mirror.

Everything. Super nice, sweet modern cabins. You had the entire place to yourself. Super friendly and helpful owner, who offered to pet and feed the lamas. Super view (I guess, cause I had terrible weather :D), nice, big and quit area. Definitely recommend and would like to stay again.
