How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Didn’t have a lift, breakfast menu on website was out of date

Very tasteful conversion of the once airforce mess into an rather nice hotel. Room was very comfortable and meet all my needs. The dinner in the hotel restaurant was good. Location is great, nice and quite as away from the main road.

Lovely room, comfortable beds, and the heated floor in the bathroom was something unexpected. The staff were friendly, and the restaurant- bar was cosy.

Marty was exceptional in the bar a shame he is leaving as it is sold..the bed was very comfortable and I LOVED the heated floor in the bathroom...chef cooked us up a burger even though their kitchen was closed..great service and perfect for a weekend away!!

It was in a quiet suburban street, close to the RNZAF museum. The historic building was really awesome (complete with old stickers on the mirrors) and stunningly renovated maintaining the art deco vibe. Heated floors, beautiful bathroom layout, comfortable bed. This is a must for any flight enthusiasts.

I may have misread the hotel info but thought the breakfast service ended early. However this let me explore local breakfast eateries. Eg Joe’s Garage and Cafe 186 both excellent.
It had character and was quiet. The staff were very friendly as were the other guests. I esp liked the fact that it had been part of RNAF Wigram base! Proximity to air museum was good also

Was a bit concerned about our car staying outside but nothing happened, the area seems to be safe.
The room was very comfortable, clean and modern. Loved the bathroom with the automatic night lights. The shower worked well and nice hot water. Staff were excellent and the food we ordered very good.

The selection of breakfast included hadn't come through from booking.com. This was corrected once I had downloaded the booking.com app rather than the website to be able to prove this selection. Long wait for both dinner and breakfast meals, but both were delicious once arrived. Our room obviously had pipework for upstairs toilet in the wall, very loud every time someone up there went to the loo!

Not much facilities on offer for the price. TV channels really basic
The location was perfect for our travel to Christchurch. Special mention to Marty, who was working Saturday night, absolutely top notch customer service

It was all very good
Great team, friendly and interesting to talk to, a place full of history which has retained its authenticity whilst introducing a relaxed and understated air.of luxury and comfort. 4 mins walk to the Air Force Museum, and a great way to end our stay in New Zealand before flying out of Christchurch Airport. Thank you Team Wigram.

Too small room space , front desk staff wasn’t 100 sure or what they are expected of, as I had stayed at this hotel on 2 different dates within the same week, and experience was different for both. The front desk staff at the second check in had a different approach and when asked about the same, I was simply told ‘the other staff was not aware’

The reception area was lacking in warmth and personality. Gloomy decor throughout the whole place, but I guess in keeping with the old airforce building. Wasn’t shown the short way to my room so ended up outside the building. Didn’t realise I had to pull my case up two flights of 9 steps because of no elevator!! I’m a fairly fit 75 year old but would’ve appreciated being warned!
It was quiet, maybe too quiet / didn’t see another guest. Comfortable bed and lovely room.
