The outdoor area needs an update. The swimming pool had green moss around the sides and was not best maintained. We dix visit during Ramadan time which could have had some bearing on this perception.

The hotel was going through refurbishment during the Eid break which is arguably the busiest time of the year. The smell of paint was annoying. They could have done it during month of Ramadan. Also the pool did not have a chiller and the water was warm.

The beach is awful, if you are looking for a beach leisure - this hotel is not the one. ( its public beach with very strong fish smell, no lifeguards, no buoys, a lot of strangers just passing by.. etc.)

The balcony chairs have slats and as such require a cushion. Breakfast venue changes, please pop a note under the door so guests know of the change. No notification of mosquito smoking. Guests were seated on balconies and room doors were open.

The hotel has a policy whereby only hotel taxis (cost is x5) can pick you up from the hotel - you need to physically leave the hotel grounds to be collected - local taxi app Tasmeen works like Uber).

The fact that our bedroom overlooked a building site. The workers got going at about 0500 hours and two JCBs, a Komatsu and someone hammering corrugated iron didn't exactly enable a lie-in. However, I have a feeling that those who book into 5-star hotels through websites like Booking.com are regarded as second class citizens .... so "give them any old room regardless of problems" is the norm. Our fault therefore! Make no mistake though, it's a lovely hotel probably best suited for the older generation

Great somewhat faded decor. The staff we met couldn't have been nicer & more professional. Abdullah T at breakfast was extremely polite & helpful, and the Nepalese concierge was excellent too. Thank you both very much indeed; you couldn't have been kinder.

Outstanding property with particularly lovely poolside area and ambiance. Lovely poolside restaurant Marjan if rather pricey. Delightful location by the beach/promenade. Spacious room with balcony, comfortable beds. charming and friendly staff.

We had an absolutely wonderful time at Grand Hyatt Muscat Hotel. The hotel felt grand, without feeling cold. It was very welcoming, warm and tastefully decorated. The food at the restaurant is extraordinary. We would rush back to the hotel to have our dinner there because they had so much variety, the food changed daily and it was very fresh. The rooms are spacious, ours overlooked the sea. Even though the hotel was redecorating its main restaurant, the terrace is stunning and has a wonderful view, so I don't feel like I missed out. I can highly recommend anyone to stay there.

Areas that haven´t been refurbished are in need of some TLC.

Good location on the seafront and with easy access to most points of interest in Muscat. With a lot of redecoration ongoing the common areas are quite limited, however no big issue. Food in restaurants are good - Tuscany being excellent! Staff very helpful and a great asset to the hotel.

The hotel could do with a major refurbishment. The bathroom was pretty outdated with appliances showing signs of wear and tear, a bit of yellow in the joints in the shower, There were no overhead lighting in the room and no power socket near the bed. The swimming pool is in the shade past 2pm (in January) so you can’t really enjoy that in the afternoon. The views of the rooms are over the swimming pool (or the roof of the restaurant) which is shame when they could be looking to the sea!

The architecture of the hotel is beautiful, well located near the center and the airport, just across the beach. The breakfast was delicious and had small variations everyday. The lunches at both restaurant were delicious. The room was spacious and clean. The swimming pool and the gym were great.

The breakfast can definitely be worked on. We did not think the breakfast quality was that of what we were paying, or that of a five start hotel. The general cleanliness was acceptable, but could have been better.

The location is wonderful, though the hotel does not have a private beach, it opens onto a very nice public beach. The beach is open to the public, and there is direct access from the hotel back side. The hotel is located quite nicely and lose to several cafes and small restaurants.
