How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

The rooms were pretty hot Sometimes it was noisy Long waiting times for breakfast (we missed a bus)

The backyard was just amazing. There is a really good vibe and the staff is very friendly. My private room was verg comfortable.

They don't put a/c on until way late in evening just before 'lights out'. Not Bodhi's fault but possibly related; very strong body odor from girl sleeping on bunk under mine: Maybe staff can pass through every now and then with some purifying incense? I had to put essential oils in my nostrils so I could sleep! VERY noisy in Dorm2 because right next to the Cafe. Woken up by a woman cackling; thin walls. Free breakfast but you have to wait til 7:30a. If u r a hiker, u r going to be off before this time.
The laid back atmosphere and nice bilingual (Spanish/English) staff. The covered relaxation area with cushioned chaise longues beds was my favourite part.

super friendly and helpful people working there - in walking distance to loads of hikes or local busses to get to them - yoga and workout place with TV - nice garden seating area - spacious kitchen to cook in

Not much to dislike really. More activities could be arranged with the volunteers. Only one per day which might be in the morning, or just in the evening. Would be good if there was a morning and evening activity.
+ Friendly, helpful staff. Book of activities at front desk so you know all there is to do there. + Hot water in showers + 15 bed dorm but didn't feel like it. Spacious, quiet, clean. + Kitchen well equipped and clean. + Free breakfast was lovely. French toast one day and pancakes the other. + Lots of areas to chill out in.

The dorms, too big and to High, dont take the upper bed, it's 15 feet High. And the beds and pillows have to be changed, way to Soft.
Everything, the staff, location, backyard with flowers and Grass, and the view on the mountains. Very good breakfast as well.

Good location close to supermarket, fruit market and busstations. Clean rooms, big kitchens, big garden with plenty of chil options and nice yoga deck. The people who work here are kind and helpfull and make the best breakfast. In our opinion this is the best hostel in town.

More expensive rooms dont have ac, dont really need it, but the smaller ones downstairs have ac.
Central location. Nice chill area. Quiet but social. Private rooms are basic but ok.

10 out of 10! Great Staff attracts great people. One of the best hostels I‘ve been in the last 12 years traveling the world (over 300 stays in total) Beds are comfy, quiet dorms, well equipped kitchen, a lot of possibility’s to relax and chat with other guests. Bathroom was clean all the time. There are enough showers and toilets, so you don’t have to wait. If you‘re looking for a party hostel: Go somewhere else. Thank you very much BODHI El Valle for having me and 4 amazing days with lovely people.

Please do something with temperature in a room during night! At night, there is fan + air conditioner (considering that at night it is super windy outside and you don't need both). It was actually freezing! I asked for extra blanket (staff provided, thanks for that), but I saw that a lot of people in room felt the same thing, a couple just used their winter coats as blankets. One night I asked to not turn on fan, and leave just air cond, and that night was actually good. But then they put new arrived person exactly near air conditioner, of course person asked to turn it off, so next night we didn't have air in the room. So perfect scenario - air cond on, fan - off, and please do not put any guest near air cond, just keep that particular place always empty.
Beautiful and cozy place, breakfast was ok, great price vs quality

No AC (though there was a fan), there was also no hot water during our stay.
Very friendly staff, nice facilities (private and common areas). Pretty good Wifi. Close to hikes and other Valle de Anton attractions.

Wasn't a huge fan of the 3 layer bunkbeds
Very nice and social hostel in the center of el Valle. Tasty breakfast and super comfortable common areas outside, even with a yoga area. Friendly staff and they do offer hikes together. Very well equipped kitchen

No hot water, but the description says that.
They organize tours/hikes everyday, which is amazing to get to know the area and meet new people. The staff is very friendly and helpful and the common areas are great to recover from your hikes. I also loved the yoga area.

I stayed 3 weeks in Panama and this was the best hostel for sure. Clean, nice vibe, a lot of activities (free hikes etc), comfortable beds, well equipped kitchen, nice staff, delicious breakfast, beautiful backyard, good location.

A beautfiul place at the crossroad of the main attractions of the village. We had a great stay, the personnel is very friendly, they organize all kind of walks and events, the breakfast and the smoothies are delicious. We enjoyed the garden and the chill lounge atmosphere. We met some nice people, thanks, see you soon !

These are triple bads... staying in total with 14 people in a pretty small (and high ceiled) rooms...
