How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The staff was not that friendly and helpful. The pool did not look inviting as it was not clean.
We had quite a big room with a comfortable bed and a sofa, which was practical for putting the luggage on. The air conditioning was great and the bathroom was big and provided what we needed. The breakfast consisted of freshly made pancakes and fruits. The outside common area was comfortable and the surrounding area was quite ok. We were happy about the restaurant "Rana dorada" close to it.

The private room turns out to be a dorm room with wooden partitions between the beds. While it gave visual privacy, sound and air could freely reach the next bed. The breakfast is lots of pancakes and a tiny bit of fruit. The city center, although safe, is far from any big supermarket or any touristic destination and thus adds 45m to travel each way
Clean. Sockets near the bed. Air conditioner at night. Giant lockers. Good value for money. Great common area.

Some parts could use an update but overall it’s great
The property was nice and had lots of hang out space and a pool. The code and WhatsApp system was really smart and easy and could always contact the manager like that. The manager was really helpful and friendly. Close to restaurants as well

The room smelled a little bit like smoke.
The hostel is probably the best place to kick-start your travel in Panama. The staff was super nice and very helpful. The breakfast was simple but everything you needed (fruits and pancakes). The hostel is already a bit older so it looks a little “used” - this is not a problem though as it is clean. The garden is a little paradise.

Room could do with a clean, very grubby and a bit basic given the cost. Laundry is expensive, we were quoted $1 per kilo and were then charged $1 per pound. Automatically taken from my card. Pool is quite old, needs a thorough clean. We were woken up at 6 am with someone talking outside the room.
Nice host - good shared kitchen, quite location with cool garden. 1 hour walk to old town but Uber is quite cheap. Very basic Free breakfast - pancakes with a small amount of fruit, but good coffee.

Bed was soft, but we like really hard beds.
Super friendly hostel in great location. Very close to a Rana Dorada craft beer joint and a cheap yet tasty pizza shop. Very near the front, if you want to walk/jog/run along the boardwalk.

A few communication and cultural issues I would say.
I liked pretty much everything. The place is really nice. There are some areas where you can get some fresh air and swim a little bit. The location was good 😊 it made me feel safe since I am a solo traveler it is very important for me. The staff made an effort to help out whenever it was necessary. The AC in the room made it very easy to sleep in a comfy way.

Lovely stay with a garden below the skyscrapers with perfect staff and delicious pancakes for breakfast. Huge bathroom in the family room. The water in the pool was not that appealing in the time of our stay.

The location was a bit further out but good for exploring the ruins of old Panama. Needed locks for the lockers - fine if you know in advance.
Nice hostel with a quiet vibe. We stayed to get some rest after our flight and it was great for that. The breakfast was good and the beds comfy.

An absolute legend of a host, super friendly and easy to chat with. The pool is an highlight, a great escape from the hot Panamanian heat. Big security gates help you feel safe, nice chill open lounge areas, basic breakfast and comfy beds with AC in the rooms. Good wifi speeds and easy Uber into the city centre. Great value for money

The host is an absolute legend, so friendly and kind and helpful! The pool is the perfect escape for the humid Panamanian heat and plenty of chill spots to hang out. Fast wifi, AC in the rooms, big kitchen and fridges you can use, very secure, lots of restaurants within walking distance and a mini market too, easy to get to the airport and into the centre. Great value for money!

Kitchen equipment is ok but basic
Very nice and comfy hostel! The garden and pool gives you a break from the hot and busy city. Very nice to relax and to connect with fellow travellers :) liked my stay a lot, would definitely recommend it!!
