Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesWe just spent 4 wonderful days at this B&B. Randy and Kat have created the ideal getaway spot with casitas tucked into a lush botanical garden that includes winding paths and panoramic views. Sunrise each morning on the ranchito deck drinking coffee fresh roasted from Randy’s coffee plantation. Then a delicious breakfast delivered to the casita and a chat with Randy about our plans for the day. At night, sipping a glass of wine out on the deck under the starry sky with the highlight seeing the Southern Cross for the first time. Randy offered to shuttle us back and forth to town so we were able to easily book tours and restaurant reservations. During our daily rides, we talked about life in Panama, with Randy sharing stories about his life as an ex-pat and B & B owner. He has such a positive spirit and a great sense of humor. We also met his lovely wife, Kat. Our thanks to both of them for one of the most relaxing getaways we’ve ever had.

United StatesRandy was a great host! Very helpful with recommendations and knowledge of the local area. He provided rides to town and other attractions, like the Pipeline Trail, an excellent hike! They provided a healthy and filling breakfast to order every day, great coffee too! The Ranchita was a bonus sitting area to relax, enjoy the hammocks and watch the hummingbirds. Awesome view .

The suite has everything you need, even little extras you didn't know you needed. It was an absolute pleasure to stay at manana madera, I hope to return again someday. Thank you Randy.

United StatesI would have wish the property had a kitchen/small kitchenette or at least microwave for leftovers.
Randy was an excellent host, had detail information on all places of interest in the entire province. Breakfast was the best we had in 3 weeks in Panama. But it was really Randy's personal touch that made the difference. The price is premium but he is on 24/7 to make it an above and beyond experience. I must add that he was even up at 3:00am when my our Tour arrived to take us to the local Volcán Barú. It was great he did since driver was a bit turned around. We experience 7 provinces in Panama, but Randy will be what I will remember from this trip. Thank you for your hospitality.

United StatesMy sister and I travel extensively, and we truly felt that Manana Madera WAS the vacation. There is a lot of beauty and adventure in Boquete, but our favorite part of our visit was a hike in the morning, and relaxing in hammocks in the afternoon and evening. This property overlooks a beautiful valley, and watching birds fly around the garden while drinking a coffee or a beer, was an absolute pleasure. The hosts, Randy and Kat, are accommodating and cool. Randy made sure we had what we needed and made sure we could get where we needed to be. He is candid about what you should see and what you could avoid - very helpful. He knows a lot about Boquete and contributes to a lot of social causes there, so it felt good to stay at a place that gives back. We would absolutely stay again!

United StatesIncredible!! The views and the accommodations well exceeded my expectations. Owner had hammocks available to use in gazebo and coats available in addition to coffee grown on the owner's farm. He included a local cell phone to use to contact him any time for help or recommendations. Breakfast was delicious as well. Will definitely return here for the tranquility and personalized service.

United StatesBreakfast choices are limited but you have your own refrigerator and microwave. You need a car (or taxis) to get here and the long driveway is very steep a la San Francisco, but well maintained. The roads in the area are steep, curvy and not very wide, but they are paved and well maintained.
The mountain side view from your individual guest houses is spectacular as is the view from the gazebo at the end of your walkway. Fabulous night skies when its not cloudy. Each guest has their own small house with a large bedroom and living room. The (continental) breakfast you order the night before is delivered to your door and served on your kitchen table. Its only 15 minutes by car to the 3 most popular trails in the area and only 15 minutes to downtown Boquete. A place like this in the States would cost $1,000/night.

CanadaThere is nothing at Manana Madera that is not top shelf.
This lovely coffee estate is off the beaten track yet just a few minutes up from the town of Boquete. Randy and Katarina could not have been more helpful and their property is stunning, with beautiful vista views of the valley below. The guest suite is a private casita that is beautifully decorated and built with custom woodwork throughout and first rate modern amenities. Thank you Randy and Kat for an amazing stay in your mountain hideaway! And for running down the mountain to find us with the coffee we left behind! You are true gems.

United StatesRandy’s property is beautiful and allows for real rest and relaxation. The suite has a huge glass window overlooking breathtaking scenery, which also allows for amazing stargazing straight from your bed at night. The suite also has hammocks that you can take down the path to a covered patio for another view of the mountains. Randy goes above and beyond for his guests, including picking us up from the airport himself since his driver was out and then proceeding to get us where we needed to be through the duration of our trip for a cheap price. We felt like Randy was our dad (in the best way possible) ensuring that we made our way around the area safely, booked excursions with trusted providers, and offering great recommendations for restaurants. Another bonus is that breakfast is delivered straight to your lodge at your desired time with several good options to choose from. Overall, it was an amazing experience staying at Manana Madera!

The location is perfect - a few km away from the noise of Boquete town, but close enough for easy access to restaurants and treking trails etc. The views from the lodging are fabulous, and the wellkept gardens and coffee plantation provide peace and tranquility. The room was spacious and comfortable, with private bath and separate lounge/dining area. There is also a communal terrace with rocking chairs and hammocks to enjoy nature. Best of all though were Randy & Katya, the hosts. Randy was a ray of sunshine every morning when he brought our breakfast ... and always checked our day plans to see if he could help in any way. He and Kat were kind and helpful throughout, lots of fun to chat with, & full of helpful advice and tips to help us enjoy Boquete to the max. They were also very attentive to the small details that made the stay so special ... from his personalised breakfasts, to the cellphone he lent us so we could get in touch at any time, we felt extremely well looked after. Another highlight was the tasty homegrown coffee that accompanied breakfast each morning. Thank you Randy and Kat for an incredible time - we hope to return some day :)

United StatesIt didn't bother us at all, but the road to get up to the location is steep. They provided excellent driving instructions so we knew what to expect so this wasn't an issue.
Beautiful location! The accommodations were excellent and the hosts thought of details we wouldn't have even considered, such as providing rain jackets for guests who many not have brought their own. Super friendly hosts who make and serve a great breakfast (of your choice) to your room and provided excellent recommendations on how to spend our time while in Boquete.

Randy's place was our most beautiful stay in Panama. He is a very accommodating host, the bungalows and their gardens are beautifully kept and the area itself is wonderful. We were only there for four nights, but would have wanted to stay at least a week there. On top of everything Randy's self produced coffee is very good. The Guest Suites at Manana Madera are an extraordinary and incredibly beautiful hideaway. Thank you for such an amazing time! We will definitely be coming back.

BulgariaManana Madera is a marvelous place and Randy is the most amazing host I've ever met! The little house I stayed in was exceptionally clean and cozy, with a comfortable bed, lots of amenities and a serene and beautiful view. It felt like home away from home. Randy was really helpful and made sure I have the best of my short time in Bouqete. He showed me nests with newly hatched humming birds in his garden, guided me to the waterfall trail and recommended places to eat. He even gave me a cell phone to get in contact with him in case I needed a pick up or something else. I had such a great time! Thank you, Randy!
