Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomEverything was excellent, except for restaurant staff, who need some more training in customer service (e.g. to smile occasionally!) The manager was friendly and helpful. Food was tasty.

United StatesWe thought the pool looked a bit murky / milky in colour and there was a lot of bugs around but might be that it’s always like that. At first we thought there were many flies around the pool which was not great, then we realised were like small bees. For whatever reason on our second last day (our last night) the cleaner removed the cover from the bed and we only had one sheet to cover us with. The kitchen staff was ok, not the friendliest, not smiles, we liked the lady at the desk area next to the shop but the rest looked like they needed training in hospitality and communication. Only on the third day we realised we could order extras for breakfast, they never communicated this only stating “American breakfast” and asking “what do you want? Every morning” only when we saw other ppl with other food that we asked but there was not proactivity. Then we realised there was an online menu but there was no QR code or menu or communication to make it clear. We don’t have wifi when we travel and avoid our phones so this was not ideal.
We loved the cabanas. style, the rooms, shower with the open sealing, location and the landscape of the place, beautifully decorated and cute distribution of the rooms around the pool.

GermanyThe a la carte offering for lunch and dinner is diverse and also quite good, though not the best value for money we have seen in Peru. The “dining” area / common area could use some additional lighting (eg fairy lights or more lamps on the tables) to make it more welcoming for dinner or drinks :)
The white sand beach is quiet and beautiful, lined with palm trees, and other hotels are visible but blend in fairly well with trees. The pool area is very nice, and the room itself is very nice. Breakfast was great and included smoothie, eggs, fresh fruit salad and yogurt, bread/jam and coffee. Location is great for an afternoon walk to Mancora (about 1:15 along the beach).

ItalyWe loved everything in Amai Luna, especially the natural decoration, the beautiful pool and the sunset at the beach (accessible from the hotel) ! It is a roughly 15min moto-taxi ride from Mancora, where we took surfin lessons during our stay.

It was just beautiful…it was tho a little dangerous for the children…I will definitely come back with only my husband. I believe it should be an only adults place due to the structure. It was very beautiful tho….and the personnel was just up to part! It was magical

United KingdomOnly issue was crickets in the room and lots of wasps by the pool area - which obviously wasn’t the property’s fault but just prepare for this and maybe use ear plugs for a full nights sleep without the crickets keeping you up!
Absolutely beautiful place, so tranquil and relaxing. We especially loved the music choice for the restaurant / pool area. Rooms were lovely and spacious with a gorgeous, rustic design. The outdoor shower was such a nice touch. Breakfast was delicious and the lunch and dinner were also really tasty, great quality ingredients.

United StatesThe only true downside of Amai Luna was that it was a bit out of the way from the center of town. So for a larger than average group of 6 it becomes a little inconvenient to go into town for shopping and such.
We absolutely loved the setting and atmosphere of this place. It felt like we were on a Caribbean Island. A little slice of paradise and tranquility. The food was top notch and the staff was very accommodating to any needs or requests.

AustraliaNothing to do with the property itself but there were many bugs which made it hard for me to enjoy 100% because I hate them. Lots of wasps at the pool area.

New ZealandThe only thing I could say to improve is the food. The food was good but not great.
Fantastic rooms. Everybody is extremely friendly, the owner and staff go above and beyond to make sure your stay is amazing. Very private and tranquil, with great beaches just a minute walk from the property. Unless you like to party, much better than staying in Mancora

GreeceI found the prices of the food in the restaurant more than what I expected, and the quality was just ok.
The location of Amai Luna was remote from the rest of Mancora, but this is what we wanted! It was very quiet, and the personnel working there as well as the owners were incredibly helpful. The pool was very nice, and all the amenities provided met our expectations. The restaurant was nice! I had a hard time with food poisoning and the owners did everything they could in order for me to feel better. They provided me with medicine and tea, and they even gave me the room that we were supposed to check out for 4 more hours, which was so kind of them and I thank them so much!

United StatesNot that we did not like, but to consider. We visited the hotel with our 4 and 6 years old. The hotel is probably not the most kid friendly place, and could stress a bit parents who are a bit risk adverse (as there are a lot of open rails). The acantilado cotage is beautiful but a bit of a hike (for those suffering from bad knees). My main recommendations are the following: (i) it would be great to bring breakfast hours a bit earlier, we and our kids are early risers and had to wait almost two and a half hours for breakfast, while it starts at 8am it often takes around 30 minutes to get served after you order, (ii) since there is not much around in terms of restaurants, markets it would be also ideal to either have the kitchen open beyond breakfast, lunch and dinner hours, or at least sell some snacks, beverages - important also for people with kids, (iii) it would be also ideal to install some fans, while for two nights we had no bugs in our room, the other two nights we had mosquitos bothering at night. Last it would be super nice if you had some beach buckets for the kids (we brought ours all the way from Lima) and maybe having some life vests. Just a suggestion if the owners intent to make the hotel more kid/family friendly.
We really enjoyed out stay at Amai Luna, we stayed at the acantilado cottage. The room, beds and bathroom was very clean, comfortable and the view of the ocean breathtaking. The food in the hotel was very good, we had breakfast, lunch and dinner at the hotel most days. The pool is really nice and with a nice refreshing temperature (warming towards the end of the day). The staff are very friendly and responded to all our questions and support. Our kids and us loved out stay; and would love to come back. We went to see the sea turtles at Organos (from the pier, not swimming).

FranceThe hotel is not secure at all. It is always open night and day without key or code at the entrance. In each room the safe is bad quality. Even the rooms are not safe, you can easily come through the balcony and lift the doors. Cooking was quite good. Anyway our stay was nice.
The place was nice. Nice rooms. Very quite. Nice beach and not so far from Mancora city center. The best employee always nice, helping and smiling was Maria-Macarena!! The employees at the office didn’t say « buenas dias »…
