One of the best travel experiences we ever had. I mean ever, not only in Peru and we have traveled a lot! There is no better way to experience Titicaca than staying with a family who has lived on the floating islands for generations. Amalia Lodge was exactly that. Everything was carefully thought through, clean, nicely furnished, comfortable and very very tranquil.

The family run business. It was so personal, flexible and lovely to contribute to a local family who live next door. They are also very open to your needs - we wanted to relax after a manic holiday, but they offered several activities if you did want to entertain yourself. Huan picked us up in his boat, took us around and ensured we ate whenever we wanted to. A very beautiful stay!!

Everything is so perfect! First of all the owner Juan is super responsible and responsive! He replies fast and helped me organize the pickup and help me the taxi when I leave. Food is included and we also have some activities like take the boat or kayaking around. The view is just perfect and the one of the best i ever had

Great location for a peaceful escape. Super nice host, beautiful room, decoration, and surrounding environment. It is much prettier than the pictures posted on booking. The bed is extremely comfortable. We asked for extra blanket for the smaller bed in the room and the host brought a whole set of wool blankets and quilts. Simple but great breakfast.

Juan and Amalia welcomed us to their beautiful. They helped us gain a great understanding of the Uros community and the room was beautifully appointed. The visit was simultaneously peaceful, tranquil and exhilarating.

    We enjoyed every minute there.

When I made the booking, I couldn't fully understand how a lodge could have a full score of "10" on both booking and Google. By the time we had our first meal there, we started to appreciate the effort and care our hosts put into this lovely place and understand why all the guests love this place! The lodge was clean, cozy, well-built, and beautifully decorated, in our guest room, on the deck, in the dining room...everywhere! Our hosts Juan and his wife took great care of us - Juan took us to the floating islands after we arrived at Titikaka and showed us around his neighborhood in the afternoon. He also told us what life is like for his family on the Titikaka. We were served delicious and fresh meals throughout the day in a lovely dining room. Eating in a cozy dining room with a window view of the breathtaking Lake was a memorable experience. We also had a chance to play with two of his kids and their house pets. Everything was lovely, I wish I stayed longer and I look forward to returning to this place!

The hotel is absolutely amazing. Both rooms were lovely, although cold at night Juan put a hot water bottle in our bed to warm it up. Food was excellent. Was an absolute pleasure to meet Juan's family - such a great experience. Such a beautiful place and Juan took us out in his boat to other islands, explaining about life on the islands.

    Everything was great!

Amalia lodge is a lovely property on the UROS floating islands. It is extremely clean and beautifully designed with Amalia’s hand made pillows and covers. The attention to details is amazing and not to mention the piece and beautiful views the property offers. Juan and Amalia are wonderful hosts and extremely warm hearted people. Meeting them and their adorable kids was a real treat for us. Juan took us on several trips to explain the history and the customs of his people. They would do anything to make us feel at home. They even prepared a small program for us and prepared a hand made gifts for us on the day of our departure. It was the highlight of our trip. Thank you Juan and Amalia for this unfortunate stay with you!

    2 days were not enough

They contacted us before our arrival to make sure we were fine. Amalia came to pick up us with the boat to the lodge. Room was huge, everything you might need, super clean and beautiful homemade decoration by them. Food was delicious. Being able to wake up in the middle of Titicaca and see the sunrise and sunset from the room has not price. We are super grateful to meet the family and share unforgettable moments with them. One of the best experiences after so many years of traveling. Hopefully we can come back soon.

Our stay at the Amalia Titicaca Lodge was one of the highlights of our trip, which is saying something considering how much we loved Peru. Juan and Amalia have created a beautiful, luxurious and relaxing experience that is so much more than just a place to stay. We were given wonderful, fresh, home cooked local meals at breakfast, lunch and dinner and the room - and particularly the bed - were excellent. As other guests have noted, you are staying on a reed island so there is both a wet and a dry toilet but everything is perfectly clean. It can also get quite cold at night, but Juan and Amalia provided three lovely hot water bottles and there's a heater in the room. The price of the booking included a sunset cruise in their traditional reed boat and a guided tour of the island with Juan, who explained everything about local culture and traditions. We also had the chance to dress up in traditional clothing and make some reed crafts (which will have pride of place on our Christmas tree this winter). Juan and Amalia were so welcoming but also gave us plenty of time to relax in our own space, which is easy to do when surrounded by the exceptional views. Staying here was truly a once in a lifetime experience and ended up being far more memorable than the alternative of staying at a generic hotel on the mainland and joining a busy group tour. Truly exceptional and would recommend to anyone.

From the moment we arrived Juan and his family made us welcome. The room is so spacious and luxurious and the super king sized bed so comfortable. It was the small touches like fresh flowers in the room, a hot water bottle at night and the trips provided by Juan explaining the way of life. A truly unique experience just wish we could have stayed longer - we feel privileged to have spent time here. Thank you so much Juan and family.

This was the highlight of my visit to Peru. I arrived on the Titicaca train in the early evening, and a driver had been organized to drive me to the local port, where I was escorted by Juan, an exceptional host in every sense of the word, to the island which he and his father had built. During my stay there, Juan invited me on mini tours around some of the islands, where I learned more about Uros culture and history. The Peruvian meals prepared by his wife Amalia were exceptional- always on time, delicious, substantial and inviting. I was never hungry. Juan ensured that my stay at Amalia was truly exceptional and something which I'll never forget- watching the starry nights from a comfortable and warm bed, enjoying the sounds of silence of the lake, being mesmerized by the sunsets, and learning more about the natural beauty and wildlife of the area. This was truly an amazing experience!

    nothing - everything was outstanding

Juan and his family are amazing. The accommodation is fantastic, quite luxurious for the place and beautifully furnished. Very clean, spacious and cozy. The food is excellent and their hospitality is simply outstanding. Juan, Amalia and the children are open to tourists as if they were friends visiting, we felt home but still treated excellently as guests. For us the best part is the experience that they offer in sharing a day of their routine with us, showing us their culture and customs, taking us around to explore the community and learn about their culture and belief system (extremely inspiring by the way!). The whole stay and the tours are excellent but the added value is the family’s kindness and openness. I loved meeting them and learning about their life and culture and I couldn’t recommend more to stay there!

The heater in the bedroom is a patio heater which I was a bit wary of using inside. However it wasn't the only time we came across this in Peru. I was happier just to wrap up warm and enjoy the hot water bottles!

Our stay at Amalia Titicaca Lodge was completely unique. The island is owned by Juan and Amalia and they have three lovely children. They all live on the island. We were collected by Amalia from the port which is included as part of the stay. Both Juan and Amalia were wonderful hosts and gave us a great insight into life on the Uros Islands. We we were taken on a trip of the islands during our stay and also out in Juan's traditional reed boat to see how he fished on the lake. Both of which were great trips. The island is also an amazing place to relax with lots of peaceful places to sit and read or just take in the beautiful peaceful surroundings. To see both the sunrise and sunset on the lake is amazing. Juan and Amalia provided all our meals which were also excellent. The rooms are very spacious with amazing views and a giant bed. They are very elegantly decorated. It is important to be aware that you are on an island and as such there are differences to a 'normal' hotel stay. The bathroom is spacious with a shower and two toilets- one which flushes for no.1's and a dry toilet for no.2's. This may be more difficult for some guests to get used to. It can also get very cold at night on the island but Juan provides hot water bottles and heaters. It was lovely and warm in the sun in the day. We had a very early start when we left the island as we needed to catch the train in Puno at 7am but Juan returned to the port in his boat and also booked a taxi for us from the port to the train station. He could not have been more helpful. I would not have missed this part of our trip to Peru- our two nights at Amalia Titicaca Lodge and the lovely family was a highlight of our trip and I would highly recommend it if you want to get an idea of this completely unique way of living in an amazing environment.
