How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Nothing to report. Loved my stay.
Just book it, you won't regret. It's a beautiful place with a pretty courtyard and comfortable beds. The owners and staff are exceptional (cheers Gabriel, and Gonzalo, you are the best). They help you with all enquiries and I felt like home the whole time. The rooms are always super clean, bed sheets are regularly changed, showers are hot and there's a kitchen to store food and cook. Nothing bad to say. Highly recommend it to anyone looking for a comfy and welcoming place in Cusco.

Lore and the rest of the staff were very hospitable and welcoming! The beds were comfy, rooms not overcrowded and free breakfast in the morning was a great addition.

We didn’t find it to be overly sociable during our stay (not the fault of the hostel but worth considering if you are a solo traveller!)
This hostel was great value for money and in a brilliant location.

The matress I was sleeping in was not comfortable - it was overused. Even though I liked the room and how the beds were designed.
The staff was friendly and helpful. They gave good directions and recommendations. I really liked the location and how clean it was!

Kitchen is small, but has everything you need. Free tea 24/7 too :)
It's a good location, a short walk to the main town. The beds are comfy and the showers are good. Friendly staff, luggage storage and laundry services available.

The shower on day one was cold, but after checking with the reception on day2 they fixed it fast!
The owner moved our booking because our flight got cancelled. There is a kitchen and free thea. The reception helped anyway he could.

Mattress was very old and dipped in the middle, so couldn’t sleep two people easily without rolling into each other. Also felt like there was dirt on the sheets

Bathroom was outside the room. We had to pay for luggage storage as we were not coming back to that hostel.
Big room, comfy bed. Nice hot shower. Beatiful place. Friendly staff.

It was almost build like a greenhouse, so when the sun was out the rooms, toilets and public area got quite hot, which is great for growing all kinds of produce, but not for living.
Nice place and atmosphere, well decorated with warm but squeaky beds. Showers were hot and there was free hot water for tea. Whenever it was empty i asked the staff and whilst refilling the water they would apologize abundantly for the (very small) inconvenience. Lovely cleaning lady that makes your bed everyday even though my bed was a mess.

The hostel is situated right next to the city center, just around 5 minutes away from the main square. The room was very spacious and clean, the bed was big and had good blankets for the colder nights. The staff is very welcoming and helpful, I got a load of things to do in Cusco when I asked for information. The common areas are nice and cozy as well.

kitchen had a little smell
it was a really nice hostel. perfect location, the beds are super comfortable, the community areas are nice to meet new people and the bathroom was clean with a hot shower (lot‘s of water pressure!! ) . The staff is really nice and helpful too!

I highly recommend the Tucan hostel! The staff is absolutely amazing, always attentive and kind - they helped us figure out our excursions in Cusco and offer good prices themselves. They also let us store our stuff at the hostel when we left on our 4-day trek. The rooms are clean and spacious, with plugs and working wifi.

Hotel in an old building with a courtyard, in a beautiful area. We took the opportunity to leave our bags for a few hours after checking out. Free tea available. And wonderful fragrant plants all around

Bed lamp was dangling by electrical wires when I arrived - took 4 days to get it repaired (took 5 minutes). No place for washing and drying clothes.
Good location. Good cafe nearby - CJ's. Excellent staff.

We shared a small bathroom with another private room however the dorm next door were constantly using it which made showering drag out at times. A sign on the door could help this
The staff were friendly and helpful. We had great sleeps here. The hostel decor was very sweet

Need to have: Kitchen: ✅ - Very small but one of the few hostels that have one in Cusco. The moka pot was broken so was unable to make coffee but hopefully they've replaced it by now. Clean beds and bathrooms: ✅ - The entire hostel is cleaned thoroughly every day. Good internet: 🟨 - As with other hostels I've stayed at in Perú, they use Movistar as their ISP and the quality is pretty terrible. Some days are better than others but taking video calls could be very frustrating. Nice to have: Free breakfast: ❌ - Since there's a kitchen they don't offer breakfast, but there is free tea. Co-working space: ✅ - Plenty of nice tables and outlets to work from. Hot water: ✅ - Perfect hot showers, never had any issues. Good location: 🟨 - Central location and a short 5 min walk to most major places. The hostel is located up a hill so you'll get a good workout.
