Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

AustraliaIt was difficult finding the place at first visit. Once I had better details and knew where I was going, that was not repeated. A small map on the listing with the full details would be helpful. I was surprised that I was asked to pay cash in US dollars. Maybe these things were explained in the booking but I missed it. Making the location details and payment terms more obvious would be of benefit.
The apartment is spacious and comfortable. It is tastefully decorated. The proprietor is awesome, friendly and helpful. The setting is away from the tourist district where people live and work in their normal lives, so there is very little in your face selling taking place. Plenty of everything you need close by. It is very economic to stay here.

NetherlandsIf I need to mention anything is that you need to take a cab to go to the city center. But that's just 10 minutes away, no big deal.
Host is really nice and extremely helpful. She had all kind of advices for us and the contacts to do activities for a nice price. The house has all the space you need and even a nice backyard.

GermanyA bit cold, but it's always in Cusco and blankets to be found everywhere. We didn't need to ask for an external heater anyway, for it wasn't that cold either.
Rather spacious apartment on the ground floor of a family house. Flat is fully equipped with all utensils one needs for a short or longer stay. It is not located in the city center, but it takes 10 min to get there via taxi for 5 soles, and the area itself, sort of residential, has a considerable amount of shops, restaurants, markets just round the corner. It is also very safe and, since the host's family is living on the first floor, there's always someone close by to help or answer questions. Host was very friendly to us and took her time to explain check-in matters.
