Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Really kind and thoughtful owners who went above and beyond to help me (including a check-in at 3AM). In fact, all the staff were excellent and contributed to a warm, family atmosphere. After 2 months travelling solo, it was lovely to have a home-from-home experience. Good breakfasts, amazing location, good value for money and the best pizza I have had for a very long time. Sad to leave.

United KingdomI’d heard Mancora can be a party place so I looked for a quiet place and Blue Ocean was perfect. Right by the beach, has a swimming pool, breakfast included, and beach bar. I could relax as I had everything I needed!

DenmarkThe outdoor area behind the pool was a bit messy. Would be easy to make it look more attractive. We had a bad Wi-Fi in the period we stayed but it didn’t seem like it was the norm. It got fixed the last day.
The location is excellent just at the beach and the pool is really nice. The staff is kind and friendly. Bonfire every night. Service in bar varying in quality and quite a few misunderstandings but always friendly and talkative. The young lady in bar and also cleaning was extremely efficient and kind.

FranceThe owner and staff are so friendly. There's great music to enjoy the sunset in front of the beach and a fire pit in the evening. Great location only 5 minute walk from the main road, restaurants, supermarkets, tour office and banks. I would definitely stay here again.

We arrived with the nightbus from Ecuador early in the morning and although they don‘t have a nightport, the host got up early to let us in. Our room was really comfortable and we also liked the location of the hotel, which was directly at the beach and just a few walking minutes from the main street away. The restaurant of the hotel offers delicious meals during the day and in addition tasty pizza in the evening. The breakfast was really good and included eggs, fresh bread and juices. Part of the hotel are some really friendly dogs and cats.

We had a wonderful time at Blue Ocean Máncora. Marlen, her family and staff are very friendly and welcoming people and made sure we felt at home. We arrived with the nightbus at 4am and Marlen let us in and use the facilities until our room was ready in the morning. The rooms get cleaned everyday and the property itself also. The shower in the room is hot, the beds are very comfortable and there's a small fridge in every room. The breakfast was also really good with a selection of bread, huevos al gusto and a different fresh fruit juice everyday. It's a small hotel with only 6 rooms so it's never croweded. There's a lot of sun chairs to choose from and they are well maintained. The pool is nice and clean, there are outdoor showers and the view over the ocean is very beautiful - we even spotted whales and a sealion. The food we ate in the restaurant was also really good and since I had gastritis they also prepared me special food that I could eat that wasn't on the menu. Would definitely stay here again :)
