Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SingaporeCan be noisy depending on what room you get. I had three different rooms in three nights. The main building is a bit chaotic and the room beside the kitchen was noisy until 1am. The second building behind was quiet.
Really nice staff. Paul is a great source of trekking information and can arrange tours direct from the property. Gave me breakfast to take with me when I went to Laguna 69. A short walk to the plaza de armas, shops, etc. Hot showers, fast WiFi throughout. View from the roof terrace is great.

SwitzerlandA lot of dogs barking on the street during the night : bring earplugs! Kitchen isn't very clean, but this is the fault of the guests.
Anita and Paul are amazing hosts, they make you feel at home and creat such a good vibe in the hostel. It is really easy to make friends there. There a kitchen, so you can cook your own meals. They prepare a great breakfast every morning. Individual rooms are very comfortable and their is always warm water in the shower.

United StatesToo many stairs. Too much up & down between laundry (roof), kitchen, bedroom, reception-- for my old body. Kitchen didn't have enough space (to stand, to keep food in refer or cabinet). Only had old teflon/non-stick cookware. A little far from things. I didn't feel that welcomed.
It had the basics and the first breakfast had delicious, homemade pesto and hummus!

ItalyAbsolutely DO NOT rent the equipment (tent, sleeping bag etc.) at the hostel: super old stuff and not good quality. Also not that cheap. Ruined my experience.
Really nice and warm environment. Anita and Paul will take good care of you also by giving so many advice on the marvelous hikes around.

FranceNothing.
The owner Paul is one of a kind. He has very extensive knowledge of the Cordillera Blanca and is always very kind and always ready to help. Threw a surprise birthday party last week on the rooftop, he brings everyone together in a way i've never seen before in a hostel, it creates a true sense of community and feels like home. The staff are also amazingly kind and helpful, and the guests come from everywhere, its a great experience. The hostel itself is clean, safe, and only a 7-8 minute walk from the center of Huaraz (Plaza de Armas). The place is so special we came back, and when (not if) we come back to Huaraz some day, we will definitely be coming back to Caroline Lodging. Ps: the breakfast is also very good and changes everyday which is super nice

GermanyCaroline Lodging is a great all-inclusive hostel. It has a a great family vibe with the owners being very helpful in trip planning and matching the guests who have similar plans. the breakfast is great and the prices for all services are more than fair. There is a really nice rooftop and the kitchen and cozy chill out area are great to hangout and meet people. Arriving at 4am was no problem and I was shown to my room immediately without having to pay an extra night and even got breakfast the next morning.

IsraelThe only downside is the shared kitchen. It's pretty small and it's not possible for more then 2 people to cook at the same time
Absolutely my favorite hostel so far the staff were really nice and helpful especially Paul the owner who helps everyone with everything and have insane amount of information about every single trail in the area. Also they serve breakfast that changes every day to keep things interesting.

United KingdomNothing I could think off
Beyond the fantastic welcoming and relaxed mini community feeling in the lodging, the best part is all the tips for hiking/ trekking/ climbing and mountaineering. You ll find advices to suit your budget whether in autonomy or in a tour. You can pay directly for the tours and you ll be picked up at the lodging door. Simply amazing hosts and staff.

GermanyIt’s always sociable in the kitchen - it can be sometimes a little bit full and noisy there.
Paul is a really helpful and kind host, he speaks almost every guests language. You can book tours at the hostel or Paul helps you to do some treks on your own. Laundry service is good and for a fair price.

NetherlandsExcellent check-in and check-out times, perfect when you just arrived in Huaraz with the night bus. During our stay for 7 mornings, didn't get the same breakfast once. Wifi worked perfectly in our room. Cool view on the rooftop. Great tips from the host for hiking trips, and in which order these should best take place. Very nice and friendly staff. The laundry service of the place is ready the same day in the evening.

Perujust the fact it was full of people from mi city, nothing from the place itself.
Despite it was so full because of the holidays, I didn´t expect to be treated that well. the owner made us ALL pancakes for breakfast, and the bathrooms were clean which is someting I really appreciate...In comparison the first place I stayed in, I would DEFINITELY come back there!
