How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

It says online that it is a 24hour reception, we had to wait outside after quite a long night bus as no one was on the front desk. If you're arriving early or late I'd strongly suggest messaging first to make sure someone will be there to check you in.
Lovely stay with comfy beds and a great breakfast. The staff were also super friendly.

it was in an odd location. a little out from the centre and not visible from the main road.
very clean and modern, the staff we great and left us a packed up breakfast in the morning as they knew we were up early. Great stay!

If I could give this hotel 11 out of 10 I would. We stayed for 3 nights before and 1 night after our Inca trail. From the moment we arrived we were met by our hosts Alex and Gladys, who really could not have been more helpful. They let us check in as soon as our room was ready, gave great recommendations for places to visit and to eat, stored our bag while on the Inca trail and let us stay around the hotel waiting for our night bus. Our room was comfortable and the hotel really looks lovely and felt luxurious. The breakfast was amazing, the lady cooking it made it to our preference and couldn't do enough to help. I was so impressed, it was the nicest place we have stayed in 2 months of travelling.

The drain in the bathroom smelt, probably just needs clearing out! Didn't feel super safe walking around the area at night, but it was okay as we just got taxis
The room was lovely and the bed really comfortable. Alex at reception was super helpful and friendly, helped us with arranging taxis, washing and a packed breakfast . Gave us lots of great recommendations

The bathroom tiles are unique featuring odd faces….must be some history to that! My room did not have a window that opened to the exterior, just an interior courtyard with a light that stayed o. all night….but room was comfy enough it didn’t really matter.
Very quiet area, locked keypad to enter the building, super awesome! Great wifi and delicious breakfast. Easy 10 min walk to most central attractions, which the helpful front desk staff shared (delicious restaurants and important sites to see!) They have a tea station including coco tea to help with altitude sickness available all day.

The rooms were extremely clean and comfortable. Especially the bed was very nice. All necessary amenities were available. The room as well as the shared spaces were beautifully decorated. The location was very quiet and felt safe, yet, the historical center was near enough to walk to in 15 minutes. Above all else, the staff was extremely friendly and helpful with everything. Alex went above and beyond to make our stay convenient, and even helped us by recommending restaurants and activities. I would rate this hotel a 11 if i could and I will absolutely recommend staying here.

everything. the staff went beyond to help us with everything being available around the clock. the breakfast was superb - you can choose what you want and the time you want it. the room was pretty everything was clean and comfortable. we had the best time staying there and would definitely come back.

They're willing to hold luggage for you if you have a multi day tour, which is good. The room they actually hold the luggage could be a little more secure.

This hotel is in a very quiet area. A cute homely atmosphere and friendly staffs. Staffs are especially very helpful when you are in trouble. Most tour companies picked us up at our hotel, so we didn't have to travel anywhere to meet tour bus.

There is a bit of a walk into the main plaza of Cusco. The airport shuttle is not a complimentary service.
The hotel is very cozy and comfortable. Enjoyed the property. Rooms very clean. Enjoyed the breakfast and area where it was served.

We loved staying at Casa Esmeralda. Great service, friendly staff, and the bed was amazing. We were able to leave our luggage here (free of charge!) during our 2 day trip to Machu Picchu and they provided us with a breakfast box. We also received some very nice suggestions about where to eat and have drinks.
