How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Beyond helping you with the logicstics and usual traveling stuff, the woman running the hostel is just lovely, she make you feel like you are at home.

The kitchen was extremely small and was difficult to cook in there. Even having 2 people in there was cramped. You don't have a key for the main door so once it's locked you'll have to ring from outside and wait for staff to open as it's not 24 hour reception. Also, if you have an early morning pick up, please notify staff the night before to open the door in the early hours as we had to ring them from inside the hostel as there is no bell inside.
The room was spacious, showers, although only 2 for the floor we were at had nice water pressure and was hot. The outside area was spacious and communal and a large dining area as well. The staff were very friendly and gladly will help you with anything you need. Bed was comfortable as well.

I love the owner so much. She is so kind and caring. She takes care of all the guests as if they were family members. It's not a hostel, it feels like home!

Rooms are not very soundproof, so if other guests are noisy it can get loud.
Chelitos is a lovely hostel located near to the historic centre of Cusco. It is excellent value for money. The rooms are small and basic but clean and comfortable. The bathrooms are kept clean. There is a small kitchen available for use. The staff are friendly and are happy to store your bags, or cater to check in/outs in the middle of the night for treks.

The best hostel in Peru with the most amazing Host. The lady help us with a lot of things according to our trekking to Machu Picchu and keep our luggage. The room was very clean and comfortable.

Friendly staff, easy check in. The location is good, since it is down a small street there isn't a lot of traffic and it was very quiet, yet it's within 5 minutes of San Pedro market, and the historic center. The property is clean, it has a well-stocked shared kitchen. Clean bathrooms. The room was comfortable.

Very quiet away from Main Street and residence. Nice courtyard. Only few minutes to Main Sq and excellent St Pedro Market and interesting areas in vicinity.

There wasn't many travellers around, but the few ones who were there were extremely friendly.
The host are lovely and very welcoming. The hostel is situated in a quite street close to the center. There is an equipped kitchen, so you can cook your own meals. The room is really comfortable: definitely a great deal for value.

Nice family run hostel. Beds are comfy, rooms are big, bathrooms are clean and shower is very hot. Kitchen is well equipped although a bit small, but has everything you need. Location is perfect, 5 mins walking from San Pedro market and quite at night. The owners are really lovely people that will make you feel home.

A bit noisy. Could hear people in other rooms and from the street. WiFi also poor in the room we were in.

Amazing place closed to the San Pedro Market. The place is well taken care. Rooms are well amended and clean 👌🏼 ! The owners make you feel like at home and will help you whatever you need! We spent many days here, and they even kept our bags while we were doing the Salkantay! 100% recommended!

It was a bit cold to have a shower as it was not really enclosed for indoor, a bit chilly in the morning

Superb owners who were extremely friendly, kind and went the extra mile always. They were infinitely more helpful than the consulates and insurance companies during the recent troubles. Would recommend.

Chelitos Backpacker is fantastic value for money. Its centrally located and near to most Cusco attractions, it's clean, and they have good WiFi. However the best aspect it's the people who run it! Talita and her husband will welcome you like family and take genuine care of all your needs! I highly recommend it
