How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Great budget stay in Cusco in the historic center. About 10 min walk from the Plaza de armas. The manager is very cooperative. The staff doesn't speak English, but with translation apps it was not a problem at all. The manager woke up at 4 am in the morning to help us with the early checkout and get us a cab to the airport.

Very cold room, but nice big blankets provided.
Nice big room, very comfortable bed and pillow. Hot shower and hairdryer available. Fairly quiet neighborhood. Close and walking distance to most things. Spanish speaking staff only, reception open 24h so easy to check out 4am before our trip started.

My wife and I stayed here three times. The rooms were clean, the beds were extremely comfortable, the location was fantastic, the owner Ciro was very helpful, and the laundry service was great. Incredible value for money.

Would highly recommend staying here. Chamuel was great - any questions or if we needed anything he was so helpful. Bed incredibly comfortable. Place was very clean and laundry service available at 5 soles per kilo which was very quick. Location was spot on - close to everything. Great restaurant Barbarus just up around the corner too. Coming back to Cusco would happily stay here again. Incredible value for money.

I liked everything.
The bed is super comfy, it's a quiet place, the hosts are amazing people and super helpful. It's great value for money! Great location! They cleaned the room a few times too.

The room I was staying in had no windows and the bathroom seemed to have some connection to the outside hallway as I could hear conversations pretty clearly. But it was so cheap this didn't matter.
Concierge was friendly and extremely helpful.

I enjoyed everything about my stay in Hostal de mis Sueños. The room was so comfortable and spacious. During my stay I had many requests and they were always met without any problem. The staff are so friendly too. Next time I am in Cusco I will stay here without a doubt!

Slight smell from the drainage but just kept the bathroom door closed.
Second time we’ve stayed here now, Good location, staff friendly and helpful, room nice and spacious and good size bathroom, always had hot water for the shower. Lots of blankets & duvet provided on the bedding. Good laundry service well priced.

No breakfast option but it didn't matter as we always had to check out way before any sensible breakfast time due to early departures for excursions.
Excellent beds and facilities. Sometimes the sink tap didn't work but other than that, there was plenty of hot water to shower with and the rooms were spotlessly clean (we stayed on two separate occasions and both times had a room with 2 or 3 beds but only need one). The owner was always on hand to help out and offered great laundry service.

Samuel was on hand to answer any questions / assist with anything. Check in was smooth and easy. Room was clean and in a central location - close to all the restaurants and bars of San Blas, and the main square. I was able to leave my bag for 4 days when I went to Puerto Maldonado, and have a quick shower upon my return (before getting my night bus). The hospitality shown was highly appreciated. Everything was great but it was best to shower in the evening as I didn't have any luck with the hot water in the early morning.
It was a really spacious room with a good closet space. Comfortable bed. Very nice and helpful host.
