Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

They called three times if I had already payed my invoice during the night and demanding that I have to leave a tip for the cleaner. Some improvement here.

NetherlandsThis accommodation made me overpay including tax it should've been 238 dollars but I payed 294 dollars. She made me pay in soles and I said the amount is inaccurate. She convinced me it was fine. I trusted her and booking.com. I said again the amount was inaccurate after I payed and she ignored me. The washing machine system doesn't work. The apartment is tiny and very hot, uncomfortable. She just got me 1 towel, that's not hygienic. Very bad experience here. What a disappointment.

NetherlandsWorst experience ever in terms of the contact person. The contact person lies about certain things, provide misinformation in terms of the amenities and takes no responsibility at all. We had to pay via shady link (she even asked more than 10% on top of the price agreed via Booking,com) and when our bank did not allow that we had to solve all her problems like getting the cash since she apparently could not manage to get any change. We already had to head back to the apartment to pay and on top of that she managed to show up nearly 2 hours late. She is simply incapable in only doing the things she should do. Swimming area was closed the entire stay and also the elevator did not work. We were told that everything would be solved the next day but that was not the case. Only elevator opened for a day, yet closed again. In addition, when we entered the apartment there were bags of others which does not feel entirely safe, yet she found pretty normal. She also claims to speak 7 languages, yet she could barely speak English. Despite all this, the apartment looked nice, the staff at the reception were good and friendly and Barranco is just a really nice neighbourhood!

United KingdomCheck in was not great. I received a WhatsApp message 90 mins before check-in telling me the flat would be ready at 3pm. The lock box code was given as 5 digit symbols. when I arrived the box was a 4 digit number. when I contacted Karla, she advised there had been a mix up with cleaners and the flat would be ready in one hour more. One hour later I received the correct code for the lock box, and when I arrived at the property she was still there cleaning it, so I had to sit and wait another 30 mins while the property was cleaned. Karla was nice to chat to and kind to me which did help the situation. When she left I checked the hot water was switched on per the WhatsApp instructions, and went for a shower. The hot water lasted 5 minutes and went cold. There was also an unpleasant smell in the bathroom. The WiFi I found to be incredibly slow. If I used Netflix on the TV, my laptop would not work, taking several attempts to refresh each web page. The location also wasn’t up to much, no restaurants nearby, so I got a takeaway delivered. there was only a small coffee shop over the road selling sandwiches etc. Finally, they do not tell you anywhere on the booking you will need to pay 6% surcharge if paying by card.
The room is lovely - spacious, nicely decorated, comfortable bed. I had a great night’s sleep here. It also wasn’t too expensive.

SwitzerlandIt is not an hôtel but a rbnb, first of all… They almost never answer my questions. I had to take a cold shower for this reason even i follow their instructions… They told me i had to pay on arrival but they seemed to change mind and wanted me to make a visio at 9pm. Only Time they are free and i had to be free for them. What i declined. They called at 23pm and 6am to be sure that i don’t sleep well i guess. Their only preoccupation was money. Not that i had a confortable stay. I definitely don’t recommend this place!
