Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesWe were on the 3rd floor and all the apartments are connected by two large vertical shafts that are glassed in with sliding windows, you can see the kitchens of the apartments above and below, great for air flow but also transmit sounds and light. Radios playing in the early morning, conversations, not a big deal, but there are two Schnauzers who live in the apartment below who love to bark in long bursts that can be earsplitting. They wander up and down the stairs outside much of the day and in and out at night barking at passing dogs, people, and especially at us every time we came and went. It isn't the fault of our host, just took away from our experience there. The area is located about ten to fifteen minutes by cab from the Plaza de Armas, so felt a bit out of where the action is, and had to be sure we had everything we needed in packs rather than taking taxis back and forth. The neighborhood feels like a fortressed area, with metal entry gates and electric wires above everywhere. Not a place to take a night stroll as we did in the Plaza area. We are sensitive to light at night and unfortunately there's a super bright street light that illuminates all three bedrooms, especially the master suite, and the glass shaft in the bathroom would go bright if others above or below turned on their lights. If light is no issue, no worries. Our only other real pet peeve is tiny coffee makers, and this one had no filters, and they said they had to order them, but never came. Also, get the Uber app for your taxi to get there and about, waited 1 1/2 hours for a taxi Raul kept trying to supply for us from the Inca Rail station the the apartment.
We liked the size and condition of the apartment. The kitchen had most of what we needed. The laundry room with drop down drying rack was very useful. The bathrooms were clean and the owner Raul was very responsive to all our questions. There was a health clinic just three blocks away which three out of four of us had to use for an upper respiratory infection we had there during the first few of our seven days.

BelgiumNow the issues, the house is fairly noisy, you hear a lot from the house, even the dog walking upstairs. Curtains do not really make things dark, bathrooms have hot water when you shower, opening the sink hot water might take its while to heat up, if at all. The biggest issue is, the apartment is too big for the two small space heaters provided, you can heat a bedroom, if the door is closed, ok, the living room is cold, especially to sit and spend time. So for winter, this is an issue, also the furniture is not comfortable, the desk chair in the living room might try and kill you as well (old 4 leg chair).
An interesting and difficult review I have to make here, the apartment has a lot of room for like 6 people, 3 bathrooms, a kitchen, washing machine and like 2 TVs, larger fridge and all tools to cook, drink and stay there. Living room is large, with desk space, and the setup is secure, with a gated access and key controlled elevator. The service and support from the owners is excellent.

SwitzerlandThe kitchen equipment is in some ways rather limited although there is a mixer and a microweave.
The Appartment is huge and bright with nicely furnished rooms. The showers have hot water and there is a washing machine and a small laundry room to dry your things. You can board the public bus right in front of the house or take a half an hour walk to the "Plaza de Armas". To catch a taxi also doesn't take longer than a minute. Me and my friends spent almost two weeks there and it was definitely worth the money.
