Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesGreat place located between the main square and Belem market. Rooms are comfortable and very clean. Specious common areas and well equipped kitchen. Simple, good breakfast with yummy fresh juice. The best of all, very nice and helpful staff, always finding time to answer questions and share information. Probably one of the best hostels we stayed recently. 👍

Abkhazia, GeorgiaOld beds that are shaking and creaking when someone rolls over to the other side. Some mattresses have iron parts inside, that are almost sticking out.
Very good breakfast, but served only until 09:45. 10 minutes before 10:00 the ladies don`t want to prepare food anymore. They say that they are already cleaning.

ItalyNice position, near plaza del arma. Open 24h, my room was clean and comfortable. A bit of noise since the windows are road side and the glass is very tiny. Good bathroom, water was cold btw. The bed was good and the room has an amazing view directly on the Amazon river. Breakfast was ok.

PortugalInternet hardly works (but I think it's a general problem of the city) The room I was at was very noisy in the early morning (5 am)(it had Open Windows and it is near a market, so normal as well). On the other end, the temperature was decent!
Nice place to meet new people (although Iquitos is a stopover town) Simple yet nice breakfast Kitchen with actual cabinets to store your food They have a cat Medium large locker

AustraliaThe vibe of the place was really weird. Didn’t feel social even though there were people scattered around. Can’t pay by card even though there’s an EFTPOS machine, which is annoying when there’s an ATM withdrawal limit. Some staff were friendlier than others.
The double room was really comfy and spacious. Big comfy bed, hot shower, and air conditioning that was a godsend in the humidity after being in the Amazon. Breakfast was standard Peruvian of bread, egg and jam, coffee, juice, but fine seeing as it was included.

SlovakiaShowers were little problematic - no warm water during our stay, some of them were missing hangers. The beds were hit or miss - some were good, some not really.
Breakfast was a standard Peru - toast, butter, marmalade, egg, coffee/tea, juice - very good considering it is included in the price. The common spaces were very nice and comfortable. Plus it is very close to the city centre and the staff was really nice and helpful.

PeruBreakfast had too much bread. I was in a group of five and we wasted a lot of bread so it would be good to give less and tell people they can take more if they want.

CanadaThe breakfast was pretty lackluster, although there was eggs made to order. You can expect to have to leave the hostel in order to get decent breakfast, there are nice acai bowls at places on the Blvd just a few blocks away.
I had two nights in Iquitos before going on a medicine retreat in the jungle and I chose to stay at Flying Dog at the recommendation of a friend. The location was good, you'll pay no more than 20 soles to get there from the airport, and it's close to the Touristico restaurants on the Boulevard, as well as Plaza de Armas and the Belen market. I was treated like family by the staff with my every request being accommodated with a smile. It's easy to get around by foot (watch for the doggie doo on the sidewalk though, that's a common occurrence in Iquitos), or you can catch a moto taxi which are always outside. I felt safe catching a moto back to the hostel at night, the desk was staffed 24-hours. The guys can help arrange tours, just know to set a price before you go and if it seems like too much money it probably is. My room with a private bathtub was good value, the AC worked great and the bed was adequate. Abundant hot water which can be difficult to find in Iquitos. My room was at the front of the hostel and luckily i am a good sleeper as it was quite loud outside from about 7am until 10pm or so.

PeruNo AC in the room. The room had no AC, which is key in this part of the world (the Amazon).
Location was great, breakfast was a plus but the room had no AC, which is key when traveling / living in the Amazon! The staff was great and very welcoming though. Just put an AC unit in the private room and we'll come back!
