    Nothing

Magical place! A little tropical paradise just below Machu Pichu. It was so great to arrive after a day of walking and find a comfortable room with hot water. The food was great and the botanical garden is beautiful. We had a wonderful stay

Unlike all the other places we stayed during the Salkantay trek, breakfast and dinner were not included. Still very cheap for European standards though!

The place is ideal if you want to visit Machu Picchu the next day and you don't want to experience the noise and crowd of Aguas Calientes. Furthermore, if you are walking back from Machu Picchu to Hidroelectrica to get the colectivo back to Cusco, you will pass by Mandor, where you can leave your luggage. It is on the railway path, in a quiet and beautiful location. Bring mosquito spray! It is possible to visit (for 10 soles instead of 20) the Mandor botanical garden, a really beautiful area with a small river and waterfalls where you can also swim, ideal to cool down after visiting the Inca town. The room was comfortable and the shower was hot, the staff was super kind and helpful.

The location was incredible! They are very informative and kind! Their land has been reforested, an absolutely iconic example, the food was wonderful, and the prices were fair for the location! They grow and roast their own coffee, it was delicious! On the hike to the waterfall many of the plant species were labled which was new and refreshing!

    some wifi challenge

The Mandor is located on The way From Hydroelectrica to Macchu Picchu. for us great location as we hiked to Hydroelectrica. everything was great, though we didnt downs much time there but i loved the sounds of the jungle- it was my 3rd time in Machu Picchu and I used to stay in Aquas Callientes. mandor was a great option for a change- in nature. thank you!

The internet, but it’s much better to look around and take in the amazing nature or walk the botanical garden.

The receptionist/owner/cleaner/server Mellie (?) has her hands full but has always an open ear and really cares for her guests. Cecilia, the cook, is an excellent cook and you should trust her judgment in what to eat and ask what’s good for you. She told me to never eat eggs at night and don’t mix avocado with ice cream. I had a stomach issue and she really helped me.

You can expect some insects or spiders, the location is in jungle environment.

Great location for hiking Machu Picchu. You can leave bags here and pick them up on the way back. They switched breakfast for dinner for us, which was great.

Food was decent, but the portions could be bigger. Lots of different insects.

Very friendly staff. Great location just below Machu Picchu, 1h15min walk to reach the entrance and 1h30min to Hidroelectrica. Nice scenery by the river, surrounded by cloud forest and lots of flowers.

old and a bit dirty / run down. everything worked, private bathroom, so all in all fine. jus a very base accommodation- maybe not what you’d expect for the price. also, it is much farther than anticipated from machu picchu. we discovered too late that it would actually have been quicker and easier to stay in aguas calientes.

nice staff, pretty environment. beautiful respite along the urabamba river during your trek!

The location is good if you want to go to Hidroelectra. Otherwise, it is a 60 minute walk to Aguas Calientes and 30 minutes to the foot of Machu Picchu. The rooms were quite dated. The water in the shower was not very hot.

Nice family-owned place. Rooms were a bit dated, but fine and quite comfortable. There was okay WiFi and the dinners were great and affordable. Lobely terraza and amazing Mandor, which you can enter how many times you like. We liked staying here.

    1. Wifi did not work. It did not have IP address (0.0.0.0) which meant there was something to do with how the router was set up. Upon raising the issue with the owner, she only brushed it aside by giving reason the wifi was ‘slow’ instead of having someone to reset or check the router. 2. The exchange rate used to pay in local currency was higher than online rate USD/PEN. Never understood why hotels must quote in USD then bring out a calculator to do conversion anyway. Really strange practice and one is prone to be shortchanged. For the record, I saw the owner was using 4.04 PEN to 1 USD which was significantly higher than online exchange rate. 3. There were no lights in the internal corridor and the terrace. The former was quite hazardous as there were staircases that can cause untoward accidents. Needed to bring a torchlight when walking from the room to the shared bathroom. 4. There were bugs coming from wooden walls in the room and they accumulated on the bedsheet. Pretty sure some of the bites that I had the next morning were from these, apart from the expected sand flies from the outdoor. 5. The meals were quite expensive but sometimes you have no choice but to eat there given the remote location.

    1. Location is great with soothing river sound and only 6km walk from Hidroelectrica (compared to 10km walk to Aguas Calientes). 2. Nice terrace by the river to relax. 3. Great, working hot shower.

After a long day of traveling and a long walk along the train tracks I arrived at around 6:30 at the place and was told that because I was late for the check-in, my room had been given to someone else. The host told me it would take some time to get another room ready, then resumed playing cards with some other guests. Later I got a room but the host made an issue out of the price/payment. He did refund me for the downgrade the next day when I was checking out though.

The bed was comfortable, there was hot water in the shower and the place is located nicely next to the river. Dinner was delicious as well as the fresh juice they have and the cook seems really nice and friendly.
