Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesIt could have been raining less but that was up to God, not the hotel...
Everything about this hotel was excellent. It is located just steps over the bridge from the train station. The line for the bus to Machu Picchu is right out the front door. The breakfast included eggs/omelet cooked to your request. The bed was very comfortable and the view from the window spectacular. The sound of the rushing creek out front was calming. Anyone who is going all the way to Machu Picchu from Cuzco in one day should reconsider and spend the night at Casa De Luz and go up to the citadel the next day. Beautiful surroundings and very safe location. No cars permitted in this area, just the bus that goes up to Machu Picchu.

The close proximity to the train station, the main Square with excellent restaurants, and the line-up system for the buses going up to Machu Picchu. The staff, especially Anthony, were all attentive, responsive to requests, friendly, and helpful.

AustraliaThis quaint historic hotel is very conveniently located close to the train station and just metres from the bus stop to Machu Picchu. The proprietor Ms Luz Gonzales is a very lovely and helpful lady — she arranged an excellent English-speaking tour guide for us for Machu Picchu (at short notice) and provided great tips about good restaurants nearby. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Highly recommend this hotel.

United StatesLocation was perfect; around the corner from the bus ticket office and overlooking the bus lines for Machu Picchu so we could gage the wait. Staff very helpful with MP info and restaurant recommendations. They recommended the Indo Feliz restaurant which was one of the most interesting dining experiences of our trip! The town of Aguas Calientes was way cooler than I was expecting.

CanadaHonestly, nothing. After having the worst night in my life while travelling at another hotel, this stay was simply amazing and I could finally have a great night of sleep and relax.
I need to specify that for my first night in Aguas Calientes, I was at another hotel and after my first night, even though I paid for two, ended up leaving and coming to Casa De Luz. Briefly said, they exceeded my expectations. I hat a great night! Here’s what I liked: - The location: it’s right in front of the bus to Machu Picchu, the train station, close to everything and right in front of the river so you hear that great sound. Yes, it gets noisy in the morning because everybody is leaving , but chances are you have to wake up early too; - Staff: simply amazing! They are kind, welcoming, speak & understand English, will help you if you need anything; - Comfortable & clean: bed was comfy, room was very clean, hot water was working; - Quiet: Yes, you have the noise from the street, but it’s normal, you’re right in front of it. But, in the hotel itself it’s quiet and even the noise from the street is pretty usual from a little town so nothing to worry really; - Wifi: was good and working; - Breakfast: I’m not a breakfast person myself, so I’m bot really picky or demanding. This breakfast was really good to me; - Because my train was relatively late at the end of the afternoon, they hold my luggage and allowed me to stay in the lobby and outside. For me that’s a big thing when I’m travelling, I really appreciate that because I move early or in the evening usually. And it’s not a given, some hotels don’t allow that. Thanks to them!

AustraliaNot dislikes so much as observations. We had to request the heater to be turned on for hot water whenever we needed a shower and even then the water was never overly hot, however, we have learned this is a common issue in Peru. I also struggled with the incense burning in the lobby as I am allergic to it but once we were in the lift and in our room it wasn't an issue. Also there was no mosquito netting on the windows so I was reluctant to leave them open.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this hotel which was close to the train station and had the bus station for Machu Picchu right outside which made it extremely convenient for our early morning tour and they arranged a private guide for us for Machupicchu who was extremely knowledgeable and charged less than the guides in the street. The river running past out the front helped provide white noise to cover up the noise of people waiting for their bus. The staff were really friendly and helpful and went out of their way to make sure we enjoyed our stay, even providing breakfast outside of their normal hours on the days we needed a sleep in after all the hiking. They even organised a free upgrade to a queen room on the floor above on our last night because there were repairs being carried out on our previous floor and they allowed a late checkout on our last day and held our luggage securely for us to collect in the afternoon in time for our train back to Cusco. There are many restaurant and Cafe options nearby as well as the restaurant attached to the hotel. All in all a very pleasant stay.

I just sent your team and there was a small problem about IGV(tax) and mi clientes payed more than I reserved but the staff responded to my message via booking.com and made a quick refund to my clientes.. most of the hotels in Peru they asked more money even though tourists are foreigners(foreigners don’t need to pay tax). anyway I say thanks to the staff that was quick to answer to my message, which I never expected. tanks a lot
